  I find it profoundly weird that not a single comment here even considers that there might be a value to anything other than lowest cost

  Has anyone here said price is the only that matters in a transaction? The key point here is that neither you nor anyone else have the right to dictate to me that I must value something else over a low price, whether that thing be a comfortable reading section or more entry-level, minimum-wage clerk jobs. If you value those things more than low cost, that's fine, and you can personally support brick-and-mortar bookstores by paying their higher prices, but you don't get to be a douche and use threats and force to get everyone else to conform to your preferences.

  Do you even know that you're lying, or do you honestly believe that garbage? That's not case law at all. It might be what colleges and their kangaroo academic courts are moving to (because they fear losing federal money), but it's not actual, criminal law.
  
  Heck, see the case in question, where the police determined it was nothing more than drunken sex.

  Saying that "voting for a write in candidate is far more likely to cause change than not voting" is like saying "buying a lottery ticket is far more likely to win you the lottery than not buying one".
  
  It's trivially true, but it ignores opportunity costs and expected ROI. Voting is one of the least productive uses of your time. If you want to improve your life, you'd be better off searching your couch cushions for pennies.

  Capitalism is an economic system where the means of production (the capital) is privately owned. I.e. it is a system of private property.
  
  Capitalism devolves into cronyism when an organized gang (read: a government) is given license to use violence and threats thereof to stop people from using their private property ("Pay me a million dollars and you can use your car as a taxi, plus I'll block out competitors!")
  
  This corrupt blending of corporate and state interests is very profitable for both parties, but is not an element of capitalism, nor it's inevitable end, anymore than the ability to drop poison into a bucket of clean water implies that having clean water is impossible.

  Not to mention the protagonist of The Fountainhead blows up a residential building because someone didn't build it like he designed it. I think it's fair to say she takes IP-maximalism to the ridiculous extreme, which is one reason I ultimately moved away from Objectivism to anarcho-capitalism (thanks to Kinsella for that!).

  If you're starting new OR you have an older phone, T-Mobile is more expensive.

  You have it backwards. T-Mobile is cheaper on a monthly basis precisely because you can bring your own phone. If you get a phone through them, then the price for their unlimited data plan is about at Verizon's level.

  Verizon - Bring a phone: $80
  Verizon - Subsidized phone: $80
  
  T-Mobile - Bring a phone: $60
  T-Mobile - Subsidized phone: $80
  
  I brought my own phone, so I pay less per month than Verizon.

  When I switched to T-Mobile this month, my bill went down, I have no contract, and I was able to bring in my own phone. Also, the coverage where I am now (central Florida) is no worse than it was under Verizon.
