Really?? Open for a larger bigger band to gain more exposure?? Wow, if only the music industry had thought of that 50 years ago..... How will the bands profit without wisdom from techdirt like that?
I was going to leave the same comment. Although the courts allow a victim of IP infringment to prove actual damages, you technically don't have to prove any damages (in which case it would revert to statutory damages) for copyright theft. Whether Universal would have made money or not is 100% irrelevant (although for the sake of the internet, would be amazing if that was in fact what damages were based on).
I know someone who had to have their hip replaced after a Segway glitch kicked her off of it. I could never truly grasp why the whole premise would work only on two wheels? Why not just put a third wheel in the back, get rid of all the glitchy software, and charge 200 bucks for plastic and a battery like those motarized scooters?
