Who the hell hands over a FOIA request to the ACLU. They are already criminals but the thought of disobeying that FOIA is too much.

    The Gay Menace

Have you ever had a buddy who decided to inform you that he is gay. As soon as they know you could not care less about their sexual appetites they become a menace, or at the least a disturbance.
They sit around and gossip with your girlfriend about men. They brink every new boyfriend over so they can let the new guy see how enlightened you are. They require repeated reminders that you are not interested in their gay sexual exploits any more than they are interested in your new cunnilingus technique.
    Gays are menace to society.

He's just following Al Gore's business model with environmental warming.
Since it is most likely true, why not capitalize on it. Fear mongering is an important tool in a capitalist society.

Why "stop and search"? Why not "Stop and Detain Until Paid"? That is how they do it in Nicargua.
They stop you and take you to jail until the proper bribe has been paid.
Unless, of course, you are important. Than they do not stop you at all. Nicaraguan cops don't mess with important people, they know they will be killed if they do.

  • 60 Minutes Tells Stories About FBI And NSA But Somehow Fails To Connect The Dots

    Re:

This happened in 2004. It isn't fresh scandal but it is still important. Mostly to show the sort of journalism we can expect from the big networks.
Maybe the NSA has already put a censor in their news office to let them know what they can and cannot report on. Maybe it was heroic of them to run this piece at all.

I didn't know that. Secret settlements cannot be renewed because they would lose their secrecy.
In a contract you can do a lot of things. Shouldn't a lawyer be able to protect the client from this thing.

I guess what I want to know is if now that the limitations are known has anyone found a workaround?

That is a good tactic. It makes sense. Nothing more to hide and nothing more to be dug up. Dead issue.

    On the other hand,

Those must be pretty lazy journalists. Look what CNN has done with the video of World Trade Center Towers coming down. They have been using that footage for a decade to get ratings.

Ever watch Fox News cover some minor slip of the tongue by a liberal. It is impressive. Their ability to blow something all out of proportion is legendary.

    Re: Re:

Not many places want us unless we are self sustaining. I wonder if the emotions we feel about our government now are the same ones the rest of the world has felt about us for years.
This government does not seem to care what we think about their activities, particularly law enforcement and intelligence agency activities, at all.

These guys don't even listen to the US Congress. Think what they will do when the veneer of a representative democracy are gone.

All we can hope for is that the military will protect us from law enforcement. I think the military still takes an oath to defend the constitution. I hope they do or we don't got a chance

  • Tech Execs Express Extreme Concern That NSA Surveillance Could Lead To 'Breaking' The Internet

    raging.alcoholic ( profile ), 09 Oct, 2014 @ 06:43pm

We do the same things ourselves. A cop asks us to do something and we do it. We don't think we can say no. The government relies on us not exercising our rights.

Some people even allow vehicle searches when they know there are drugs in the trunk.

I cannot believe the amount of organizing going on over the internet. It is extremely encouraging to me. People are saying NO and not just one person at a town hall meeting. They are getting thousands of signatures to support their position.
This is a very exciting time. This is when we will find out if the people are the government or if government thinks we belong to them.

The ability to communicate is too robust for us not to find out what the governments of the world are doing.

    Slippery Slope

If the government loses it power to silence it citizens than it may as well have no authority at all. This government can only exist in secrecy, the American people would never put up with the B.S. the government is doing.

the agents "were not able to conduct screening in an efficient manner on other passengers present at the checkpoint.

If a man (hopefully seductively)doffing his clothing for them to inspect interferes with their ability to do their jobs imagine what a person with a honest-to-god weapon would do to them.

All of the agency rulings are subject to judicial review after all appeal avenues within the agency are exhausted. My guess is they will have to prove to the court that 3 minutes of searching a person is a lot of time compared to other searches to make this fine stick.
Maybe Eric Holder will argue that the TSA would have used that time better to protect "America's children".

  • Almost No One Wants To Host The Olympics, Because It's A Costly, Corrupt Mess

China will pull its bid too

China wants to be a much more active world player. They will not want to look foolish.

Or they could put it on, tell the IOC to f*ck off once it is there, and keep all the profits.

Maybe they could charge a fee for each camera in their facilities and allow networks to pay by the pixel.
Everyone could watch the olympics in standard definition in compressed formats.

They wouldn't look like fools then.

    Eric Holder's emotional plea

It is hard to believe that a trained lawyer, the highest prosecutor in America, cannot come up with a better argument than that.
First he was picked on because of the color of his skin, now he wants to protect our "babies".

Can the AG be terminated for incompetence. Do they give UAs to members of Obama's administration?

    "packs of Wolves"

Your packs of wolves are impressive but, do they wear business suits, have law degrees, and carry suitcases full of cash to buy your elected officials. Our's do. If I understand it correctly all your wolves do is run deer and elk to the ground and eat them.

On the other hand, your cougar are rival. There is nothing more majestic and desirable than a 40+ Aussie woman.

  • CIA's John Brennan Refuses To Tell Senate Who Okayed Spying On The Senate

    raging.alcoholic ( profile ), 15 Sep, 2014 @ 07:50pm

    Re:

I agree. Congress is slowly losing all power to an Executive Branch that believes it is OK to spy on Congress, American Citizens, foreign governments, etc.

They need to pursue a criminal investigation or something. If there are no legal remedies they need to go on TV and ask the president to replace him. Something like this, where the president must decide if he will no longer obey their wish or that he will fire him. Something that forces a very public show down.

    Also:
I thought the CIA wasn't allowed to operate in the United States.
If the CIA doesn't know who authorized the spying is it possible to fire the director for being incompetent.

America has become a very shady place to live. The things I was taught about the balance of power no longer seem to apply.
