As far as the record labels are concerned, they think there's many other great artists available for legal download, so you'll just have to make do with them. Another example of the belief that the customers cater to the record labels rather than the record labels catering to it's customers.
...when the titles DO go into PD, the masters will be in a safe place. Studios (both music and movies)frequently destroy masters once a title enters PD.
That's all fine and dandy that many people are cutting the cord and jumping over to internet alternatives like Hulu and Netflix streaming, however I'll bet the next step for the cable companies who also offer internet, will be imposing ridiculous metered billing, bandwidth caps and overage fees to make up the difference of lost cable revenue. Sure you ditched cable but those Netflix streams will start costing you more than cable did. Time Warner got a huge customer backlash when they tried this but it's just a matter of time before someone tries it again and sticks to their guns.
Each person listening to a WMG artist for free on a stream will now become a paying customer. In fact they'll be buying the same song MULTIPLE TIMES just like they hear the same song multiple times on any streaming service. Can't you people see that EVERY stream listener and EVERY stream play equals one sale?!?!?!
DARN! I almost got through that with a straight face;-) Oh, well, sarcasm mode OFF.
Okay, I'll post the same response I posted on the other site doing the same thing:
"Brandt Morain Studios, LLC is a Rap label, didn’t that music die in the 90’s??? Sounds like their attitude and business model is as anachronistic as the music they sell.
I personally hope the radio performance fees go through. We'll see EXACTLY the same thing that happened to MTV when they were getting charged. Radio will switch over to talk format (2 music stations in my area have already announced they are going all talk this fall), Sure there won't be any more music radio (I don't listen anyways because it's only crap that's on) then the RIAA and the majors will loose another revenue stream, will shoot themselves in the foot and REALLY start hurting financially and the structure will collapse. Then we'll hopefully see a better, more independent music industry rise from the ashes. I think in order to do this the current slate needs to be wiped clean and start over.

Ah, I get it...
...Either support our outdated business model or we're holding our shows for ransom. Na, ain't gonna work!
Tough!

At least in the long run....

Yea, but....

She'll probably sue the Gulf Coast residents for "stealing" oil since they're mopping it up during the cleanup efforts.
EXACTLY!
Exactly why I keep fighting You Tube about my video being removed due to "copyright reasons" even though I own the copyright!
It's a smart move!

Radio RIP
