  • Six Years Later, JK Rowling Realizes Ebooks Are A Good Idea… And She Cuts Out The Middleman

    Re:

From what I have read the only thing that will be sold on the site is the ebooks themselves. Everything else will be free. From all the extra information that she is adding to all the interaction.

Its easy to lump her into the category of milking the cow but I don't think she is in this case. She is embracing ebooks and making a site to encourage more people to participate.

Someone said this and I found it amusing actually (It could very well be this site so sorry if I am stealing anyone's thought but it was a good thought).

When will the UN declare that having an internet connection is a necessity. Way back in the day when phones started coming out the powers that be realized it was a necessity. We are tied so much to the internet these days. From banking online, to paying for things, twitter, facebook...the list goes on and on. Taking away that from someone is almost tantamount to severing an arm or something (and as one person earlier rightly commented you can't stop someone from going online even if you temporarily suspend their account, between internet cafes and phones its next to impossible).

Three strikes is a really bad bad bad way for dealing with piracy. I hope someone realizes this soon and lets it die.

Oh and if anyone wants to read something interesting take a look. It kind of puts things into perspective to how bad service in America for the internet really is:

This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment. It is no longer available in your country

  • Apparently The Word 'Piracy' No Longer Sufficiently Derogatory For Entertainment Industry

    Piracy

I agree that Piracy maybe an inaccurate word cause at the heart of the issue how can you really steal something that is infinite?

Back in the day raiding some port or whatever you actually took and that person didn't get it back. Nowadays its more like you have something that can be copied infinitely. Does that really ring piracy? It more rings something like just plain old COPYING.

As for a word I don't know what to suggest.

    Re: Wait so...

This is what horrified me when I first heard about it. I am like what gives the school the right to spy on kids at home...

As far as I see the network Admin and school board should be thrown in jail for this kind of screw up

Re: Mike your either a real full on twit or ?..

I assume your a regular on this site but since when has Mike been scared of his work being used by other people. Its a blog for crying out loud and there have been times when people just used his work without linking back to him (I don't have a link but i am sure some other poster can help you with that one).

We aren't debating that piracy is a crime, we don't support it but at the same time its stupid to think that pirates will go away with a new idea of protection. One thing that really annoys me about this protection is that it really pisses off legitimate users. A lot of industries are trying their best to stamp out piracy but the more they stamp it out they more turn up all over the place. Until they learn the fact that piracy isn't going anywhere then they are screwed.

  • SIIA's Sequel To Don't Copy That Floppy Lies About Criminality Of Copying

    Andrew ( profile ), 08 Jul, 2009 @ 04:14am

    WTF?

I don't think I ever commented here as yet but this video had me cracking up. Don't copy that floppy was the lamest excuse of a video ever. This one is even worse, they lie, they try to impose false ideas. When is it all going to stop? Then to top it all of they used Klingons who arent even speaking proper kilingon...

Seriously someone should sue them for false advertising.
