It's a strange post. I've read it a couple of times and I still don't really see what Mike's trying to get at here, or what solution he is offering.
In the Times article linked Peter Kyle doesn't say Musk should be treated like a nation state, he's pointing out that big tech companies have more wealth and power than actual nations, and something akin to a foreign policy too, so it makes sense to revise how we treat them.
The post is a bit "corporations are people" in that regard.

I like the idea of enforcing transparency on platforms, and later interoperability. Can't see it happening in the US in the next 4 years though
