Unfortunately, the battle is against confirmation bias, so counter information has a very hard time convincing people to actually consider aspects of this logically. Too many people are convinced they "know" that social media is a harm and their imaginations convince them that everyone else agrees with them. And they want something done about it; something, anything. I continue to be surprised by the large number of seemingly normal and thoughtful people I've encountered that hold up Haidt as a shining light.
I'll start by saying I don't believe any of this claim that money will be paid...
But if it is paid, then we have a real innovation on our hands. Trump has somehow conned some people into paying taxes. Who would have thunk that bribery=taxes.
Oh dear... "Hopefully nothing crazy happens between us recording this and when this episode comes out."
Mike, I recommend you not talk about the present when you are speaking from the past!!
Anthropic is probably writing for a future audience. My inclination is that a lot of companies are preparing material for the time after this current administration is behind us. The government is operating in an environment where it is saddling itself with monumental risk if any sense of normalcy returns.
And yes, it's infuriating that these amateurs really don't give a fuck.
It's actually much worse than it sounds. The "Department of War" thing is up and down all through the Defense Industrial Complex...I mean War Industrial Complex.
And when you have to be immersed in it every day, it is as cringey as it sounds from the outside. Like "Oh my god, gag me with a spoon" cringey.
I'm gonna be the crusty old man here. I long ago abandoned the mobile phone company shenanigans and have been an unlocked phone user since the 90's. This means I have been an ardent "No Verizon" person, for three primary reasons:
1) CDMA
2) Contracts
3) Subsidized and locked hardware
Apparently, two of those three are still relevant and I don't know how anyone still falls for them.
(Yes, I know there are no better choices, but I still choose to limit my exposure to the shitiness.)
I'm sorry, but the call for Democrats need to do something, ANYTHING!!!, resonates as much as a newspaper editorial decrying why the police don't do more to stop crime. And for largely similar reasons:
1) The Democrats are in the business of elections. Full stop. The only thing they are going to focus and put energy into what they perceive to be helpful to that goal.
2) Their arrows in their quiver of options are limited. Drafting articles of impeachment is a shot that is not going anywhere in pursuit of goal number 1.
Oh boy, this is top level bullshit. One of these days, a federal prosecutor will put together the pieces to show that Musk and Co. are the absolute epitome of a Ponzi scheme. Will make Madoff look like a piker.

I'm not alone, but I've long had the hypothesis that Trump actually does think the US Treasury is HIS money.
Not to dunk...
Is this like a challenge??? "...helped me correct errors in my reporting that both I and my editors missed."
shit... Damn you Google...
Quoting from the Washington Times criticizing the administration??? What is this cats and dogs living together shut????!!!!
Does not resonate

Numbers are Hard
Tell me it's not true that my 28.7 billion pico-seconds using X is a world record.
