Of course, the best solution for this, other than the courts to actually do their job, is to create fake documents that identify multiple incorrect but possible sources. I don't think Australian has laws about creating fake documents for personal amusement.
I can't wait until there is s democrat president in power that decides that the lack of national healthcare is an emergency and funds it through emergency powers. Or a democrat president decides that the spread of propaganda as a news is a national emergency and shuts down Fox news.
John Oliver's Robocalling is a good start but he can only call each commissioner every 90 minutes. We need another 89 people to do the same thing so that the commissioners get called every minute. That would be about the number of calls I get around supper time.
If you are in public anywhere in the world these days, you are being filmed and/or recorded. If you do anything interesting, amusing, or asinine, the video of your actions will be uploaded to Youtube within 5 minutes.
Its easy ... Send African American police officers into affluent white neighborhoods and have them do stop and frisks there. See how long the program lasts then.
I am still waiting to hear what the major credit card companies think about this. If the government pushes ahead with the compromised encryption, are the credit card companies going to end ecommerce. Maybe you will be a able to get a permit for secure encryption if you are a major corporation that donates to the right political campaign.
What we need is an enterprising police detective to run a sting in Trump Towers and get one of the employees to procure drugs or companionship. Then the DA can seize Trump Towers under the civil asset forfeiture laws. I bet you would see a change in Trump's attitude. Plus New York could sell the building and use the funds to recover the cost for protecting the president.
The people wronged by the software system should file a class action lawsuit for a ridiculously large amount of money against the state and the company who wrote the software. That would at least get the attention of the people doing the hand having and the company. Nothing destroys a business model faster than public accusations that your product is crap. I worked for years in software development. There is no excuse for this except negligence on someone's part. We are way beyond the time in the software industry that you get just claim that "its hard".
Security is the ultimate capitalistic product. It is fully consumed when you use it (just because you are safe yesterday, you are not safe today), it cannot be resold, and you can never have 100% security. Since the US privatized prisons, intelligence gathering, and some security, there is a lot of money in keeping America scared. I would love to know if Trump has investments in security companies or if his backers do.
The conspiracy side of me wonders if some governments want to undermine encryption and the Internet. The lose of brick and mortar stores is causing a lot of governments to loose revenue. If you undermine encryption (to keep the people safe ... or is it ... to save Children these days), then you can undermine ecommerce and bring back the brick and mortar stores. The worse option is to require two different encryption standards on the Internet - a secure encryption that is only used for financial payments and a weaker encryption that is used for all communication on the Internet.
All we need is for some software developers to write an app that randomly goes out and randomly accesses millions of web sites. All a user has to do is run the program while they are browsing and we will fill the corporate browser history with erroneous data. It will be worth nothing.
I believe people lost faith in the US government shortly after that wonderful supreme court decision that equated money to free speech. This decision allows the special interest groups, large corporations, and lobbists buy the US elections.
On behalf of all of the Canadian IT workers, if you don't feel welcome in the US, head north. We would be happy for the jobs and financial benefits of having the tech companies here. Plus, with NAFTA you get access to the US market and with our agreement with Europe, access to the European markets as well.
Just looked at the real numbers. 2017 was the best year ever for Hollywood box office for total gross. Ticket sales are down. That might have something to do with the ridiculous price of going to a movie.
So the industry has a practice of premium pricing that has been done properly.
Don't babble BS because you industry is screwing over some of it customers.
1. I am not a Donald Trump supporter. 2. I am not a US citizen. 3. I probably agree with 50 to 60% of Donald Trump's positions. I listened to a speech he gave on Chinese trade and agreed with 4 of his 5 points (down to 3 now as one no longer applies). I agree with his position that the US has been allowing other NATO countries to not spend their required share. 4. I do not agree with his position on immigration.
The blaming of identifiable groups is an old political trick to make all of your problems someone else's fault. Its playing the victim to get sympathy and to give your supporter's someone to hate. Yes, it was used in Germany in the 20's through 40's.
I think Donald Trump has boxed himself into a corner. He promised to make all of these changes in the first 100 days without understanding the complexities of implementing policy or running a country. His white house group is not experienced in governing. Despite what they say, running a country is not like running a business. Its a lot easier to criticize the zoo from the outside. Once you are in charge of it, you find out that a lot of things are the way they are for a good reason.
It looks like the establishment GOP are very happy to let him fail so they can get rid of him.
The evil side of me things that he wants civil unrest and chaos to justify making the US an authoritative state. Once he does this, the press will no longer be an issue for him.
His immigration positions seem out of step. The last labour figures for the US that I saw had unemployment under 5%. That's basically full employment. The employment is not spread evenly across the country, and a lot of people need better jobs, but a least they have a job. Who is going to build the wall or harvest the crops or do manual labor or ...
There is a simple way to get this moving. Google needs to hire some lobbyists and start talking up a RICO investigation of AT&T. You can make a case that the actions of AT&T are racketeering. Even if it does not go to the Justice department, we may get net neutrality back.
There is a simple way to get rid of civil forfeiture. Find a property where drug deals or prostitution is occurring and has the word Trump on it. Seize it and the law will disappear as fast as the executive order can be written.
ISDS would not be as bad if countries can file claims against corporations as well as in the other direction. For instance, countries have expectations on royalties from natural resources. If a company buys up natural resources and then sits on them for more than a reasonable length of time, say 20 years for mines, then the country should have the right to extract royalties from the company regardless of whether the company has developed the resources. The collected royalties would be deducted from future royalty payments on some prorated scale.
How about Donald filing a WTO complaint against China for currency manipulation and requesting the all WTO member countries apply import duties to all Chinese made goods and to all goods made in countries that do not apply the duty.
The good news is this should have been done a long time ago to make trade with China fairer.
The bad news is this will make most things more expensive and may cause a world wide recession.

Its To Be Expected
Let me qualify my position.
1. I am not a Donald Trump supporter.
