  • Justice Department Calls Megaupload Case A Success; Hands Out Cash To Cops To Do More Bogus Takedowns

    Redistribution...

of bribes from the entertainment industry to local cops? Is it still a bribe if you get the money from the feds?

  • Spanish Gov't Wants To Make It A Crime To Photograph Cops

    Thomas ( profile ), 19 Oct, 2012 @ 05:04pm

    Tourists...

could then be arrested for taking a picture where a police of security officer just happens to be in the photo. jeez...It's bad enough that cops arrest you in the U.S., including my home area, Boston, but at least it's not supposed to be illegal. Making it illegal would certainly make it very difficult to take any photograph.

  • Charles Carreon Still Dishing Out Threats & Intimidation… While Hiding From Court Summons

    Thomas ( profile ), 18 Oct, 2012 @ 12:54pm

    just goes to show

that a crooked lawyer knows how to game the system and get away with pretty much anything. This is typical of the U.S. "justice" system - you can make all the threats you want and nothing will come of it.

  • Digital River Loses Patent Suit Despite Doing What Was In The Patent Two Years Before Patent Was Filed

    Thomas ( profile ), 17 Oct, 2012 @ 05:07am

    Well paid...

the judges and juries in East Texas must be well paid by the patent trolls. I wonder if they get a percentage of the amounts awarded or just a flat fee? Paid in cash or in "gifts" such as cars, drugs, or hookers? It must be nice to live in a town where you can get rich being on a jury. And the judges? does anyone ever investigate to see if they are getting bribed?

  • ICE Reluctantly Releases A Small Number Of Heavily Redacted Domain Seizure Docs, Holds The Rest Hostage

    Smart judges..

keep their mouths shut and rubber stamp every seizure; if they don't bad things will happen to them. No smart judge is going to deny a request if he values the safety of himself and his family.

  • DOJ Lawyer Explores 'Copyright Freeconomics'; Suggests Copyright Needs To Change

    Thomas ( profile ), 04 Oct, 2012 @ 06:44am

    One must remember..

that lots of attorneys "working" for the DOJ previously worked for the RIAA/MPAA and may still be getting "benefits" from their former employers. (Assuming they are not still employed by RIAA/MPAA). Thus their proposals are more likely to benefit the RIAA/MPAA rather than consumers. Consumers have very few true advocates within the DOJ these days; the RIAA/MPAA pays better than the government.

  • Judge Orders Woman To Delete Her Facebook Page For Typing LOL About Her DUI

    Thomas ( profile ), 29 Sep, 2012 @ 01:42pm

    Judges..

these days days have no problem censoring people's speech. Apparently ignoring the Constitution is no big deal for local and federal judges, law enforcement, or the federal government.

    Why would anyone be surprised?

  • LAPD Joins Feds In Skirting Fourth Amendment With Cell Phone Tracking Devices

    Thomas ( profile ), 21 Sep, 2012 @ 08:04am

    It will not matter...

what the judges say regarding fourth amendment; the feds and cops will continue to go ahead and track people any way they can.

These days the feds and local cops don't give a rats tushie about the Constitution; they totally feel they are entitled to do whatever they think is necessary to find and prosecute anyone.

Himmler and Beria would be so proud of the feds and cops these days.

  • Local District Attorneys Sell Their Letterhead & Threats Of Jailtime To Debt Collectors

    Thomas ( profile ), 18 Sep, 2012 @ 07:04pm

    Just goes to show

that District Attorneys take bribes too. Interesting. How much do the debt collectors pay the DAs? Do the DAs get a percentage of money collected?

And no one seems to think this is a criminal thing? Of course not! The district attorneys are not going to prosecute themselves.

So if anyone had doubts that District Attorneys can be corrupt the question is a resounding YES.

  • Twitter Hands Over Info After Judge Makes It Almost Impossible For It Not To

    Thomas ( profile ), 15 Sep, 2012 @ 10:17am

    Just shows..

how much the government is trying to squash and punish legal protests. Next thing you know they will go back to letting police dogs loose on the crowds to get rid of protesters. If that doesn't work, start shooting.

The government/cops absolutely hate protesters of all kinds and will do anything to stop them.

  • U Of Alabama Wants To Have Its Cake And Sue You Too

    Thomas ( profile ), 15 Sep, 2012 @ 10:12am

    Great business model

Pay/encourage local merchants to support the university, then sue them. How can you possibly lose? So what will they do next year when no merchants are willing to do anything for the university? Just goes to show that universities these days are all about profit and money, by whatever means they can do it. Of course the baker should have demanded that the university be named as a defendant as well, since the university ordered the stuff.

Maybe next year they will find that merchants will not even sell university approved merchandise.

  • RFID Tagging Students Is All About The Money

    No need to duplicate

the RFID cards; just have one student carry a bunch of them in his/her pocket.

  • Seventh Circuit Court: Chicago Cops Can't Use 'Annoyance' As Reason To Stifle Free Speech

    Thomas ( profile ), 14 Sep, 2012 @ 05:36am

    Typical of cops these days..

anyone who annoys them in any way is likely to get arrested. Local courts will always side with the cops; your only chance is federal help and above the District Judge level since the district judges are often in cahoots with the locals. Boston even issued an "order" telling the cops not to arrest or confiscate cameras from people merely observing and two days later it happens again. The cities tell the cops "don't do that", but they only do it for publicity purposes and the cops know they can just go ahead and arrest anyone they feel like. Since the arrests often include a beating at the scene plus another at the station plus a criminal record it's a huge deterrent to anyone thinking of photographing the cops.

  • University Of California Won't Give Up: Sues Facebook Over Already Rejected Patents

    Thomas ( profile ), 13 Sep, 2012 @ 03:38pm

    Unfortunately

the lawyers never suffer any consequence as a result of these dumb trolling operations. They should be required to pay the legal fees of the people they sue if the patents are not valid.

    The government

has decided that anyone who dares to protest against the sacred Gods of Wall Street and the banks has to be a terrorist and should be tossed into prison for long terms and anyone who gets in the way is also a terrorist.

The constitutional right to assemble peacefully doesn't fly with today's government and will continue this way regardless of who wins the election in November.Oops, I mean who buys the election.

    Public Defenders

Are overworked and often poor attorneys who can't make a living in the regular attorney offices. They tell way way too many defendants (especially people of color) to plea bargain when they know full well that the defendants are not guilty. Heck there are even people on trial for murder whose 'public defendants' fell asleep during the trials.

I would guess that at least 50% of the people who get convicted/plea bargain with public defenders would be found not guilty if they had a decent attorney.

  • The TSA's Infamous 'Behavior Detection' In Action: Mandatory 'Chats' About Every Detail Of Your Trip

    Thomas ( profile ), 30 Aug, 2012 @ 01:33pm

    Re: Police state.

Re the conventions: Just try to make a statement against whichever political party is controlling (having the convention in) the city you are in...If you are a Democrat, try to put up a political banner criticizing the Republicans and you will be in jail so fast it will make your head spin, assuming you haven't been beaten by the local cops.

You are not allowed to make political statements in Washington DC either - doing so will get you labeled a terrorist.

Another mark of a police state is having to answer questions about exactly where you are going, what are you going to do there, and why are you going there - the TSA does this routinely now even if you are a U.S. citizen merely flying to a different U.S. city. If you refuse, you are definitely getting swabbed and possibly strip searched. Pretty soon you will need your U.S. passport to go from one U.S. city to another.
