I'm not saying that all regimes, not even all laws, are good/just/moral. But the alternative you're proposing is that Blackwater, Meryll Lynch, et al. make everyone's laws. That's always, in all cases, for all time, undoubtedly, worse. Governments are bad. Corps are worse.
A nontrivial part of hate speech is factual lies and baseless theories, often peppered with defamation. Wouldn't a first step be making that actionable ?
