find copies of LVRJ content, and then Stephens would assign the copyright to Righthaven, so that Righthaven could sue on its own behalf
This is where I find the entire patent/copyright is necessary to protect the inventor/creator argument a load of bull. Ownership shouldn't be able to change hands. Licensing would be more sensible...then you wouldn't get so many patent hoarding and litigating companies "promoting the progress".
Okay, we aren't making the music but we can make our own copies. Cutting out the middle man whilst lowering the cost of printing and distributing on pointless media.
screen telling the owner to call their IT dept or have the computer professionally virus-scanned and cleaned
Do you know how many scammers are already following this scheme? Except they recommend you call them for the "professional virus-scan".
Wow! Not a single little mikee...
Devil's advocate here...but couldn't being punched in the face by the people that got ripped off essentially be protectionist copyright/patent laws? (Of course, they want that punch to be more of a destroy your life even more than current laws allow, but that's not the point I raise here)
It's not a pleasant feeling. No one stole anything tangible from you. But you still feel cheated and ripped off.
Thus explains why copyright should continue well after the death of the creator...because their ghost may come back to haunt us for the reasons you list above.
Ah...political consensus. The governments of the world are always looking at ways to give more freedom to the governed. (Note that the elite are exempt from being governed)
Yes, it IS theft.
Care to give us a thoughtful argument why it IS "outright theft"?
It's no wonder the entertainment industry so loves him. There's no lie or misrepresentation he won't repeat.
He's just getting ready to replace Dodd in 2012...and hopefully not in 2016.
Because as long as they argue they get paid.
"Freedom! I'll give you freedom..."
Yeah! I'm pretty sure they've been making 'em greener...but cutting back on the flavoring.
Big Pharma Exec: "But...but...RESEARCH! We price our patented drugs so so we can continue to innovate and pay for R&D on newer, better medications to save people's lives. Wait...we shut down that department?! Somebody call the senator...we need to get these patents extended!"
First, is the water quality to both meters equivalent? If not, does building two sets of infrastructure to deliver better/dirtier water worth the extra cost? Note: these questions are synonymous with the bandwidth question at hand.
?...Read the post again...this is about artists suing labels for not paying proper loyalties on digital downloads.
I have to admit...being a paid schill is still a job...although you could still be working in your mom's basement.
Can the artists just lump all the lawsuits into one? =]
Oh, these folks are plenty intelligent. They know what they are doing...heck, they made it to the top. They are banking on the average intelligence of the non-thinking public. Politicians can make illogical statements and as long as the masses are appeased that we are "stopping the terrorists from not thinking of the children" that they can continue to get away with it. Then the questioning minority is cast as a "radical" being debased to the laws of the cattle.
Class dismissed
ICE should come and arrest the teacher in front of the class...that would be an education.
