  If nothing else, the technicality that he didn't enter the code himself means that they destroyed the property, not him. And despite the data being deleted, it did unlock the phone and provide them access to what was on it when it rebooted, so he did comply. But yeah, [insert I should buy a boat meme with "I should install Graphene OS" free advertising here].

  It doesn't really matter at this point. The damage has been done, which was the point. Musk got more of his subsidies. The people got screwed. Local non-profits and server providers lost funding and went under or severely cut back. Matching funds were lost. Millions already spent in anticipation of the infrastructure needed to utilize more funding were wasted. But hey, at least those undeserving poors didn't get broadband or digital literacy training or better access to quality education! Only the undeserving wealthy get those!

  That leaves us with a ridiculous result, but that doesn’t mean it’s illegal.

  I feel like it should be illegal. It's a violation of the constitutional right to equal protection under the law for citizens to not have government attorneys who are ostensibly working for the good of the people. It's denying justice to the country through negligence. Of course that isn't how things work in our society, but from a letter of the law perspective, a just SCOTUS would rule in such a way that the president wouldn't be able to subvert justice this way.

  "You guys..." One guy leaked the financial records...that Trump said he wanted to release. But yeah, that was totally all of "us," that vague collection of imagined enemies where you group everyone you hate together and pretend they're all the same. Your sportsball approach to politics is just self-humiliation. You're not even on the term you identify with.

  If Trump can just fire the appointed attorneys without having his own going through the official process, it makes the ability of the courts to appoint someone completely useless. And why couldn't the court just re-appoint the attorney every time Trump fires him?

  You missed that they didn't just get access to the data on immigrants. They got access to private data of citizens. Also, immigrants who work jobs in the US pay into social security and pay taxes for everything the employer reports to the IRS (which is a lot), and they're not able to get paid out of social security, so they were literally subsidizing your social security and paying taxes. I'd try to figure out if you're stupider than you are hateful, but it doesn't matter either way.

  Bureaucracy is a weapon wielded by the malicious as well as the indifferent. We'll violate human and civil rights and shrug and say we had a staff shortage, so it's not our fault. The default should be (and was naively believed by many to be) that if you can't provide due process, you shouldn't be detaining people. But due process only matters to people who want justice. The Trump administration only wants vicious cruelty and unregulated corruption and unrelenting profiteering. And they'll be the same as our resident bootlicker, screaming "you just don't want the laws enforced," when you point out that due process is the law.

  I see the confusion. They don't do business with them. Kickbacks are illegal, so it's not really "business," is it? And conservative commissioners certainly don't regulate their kickback buddies at all! And the official action stuff is just boring technical jargon, honestly. All the real negotiations are unofficial pinky swears and cava bag exchanges...

Did you know the UN definition of genocide doesn't require mass murder? Just kidnapping and re-educating the children of an ethnic group qualifies. This is "you can't call them Nazis if they're not from Germany in the 1930s/40s" sparkling fascist bullshit. This also just indicates that you haven't studied history thoroughly enough because it wasn't just civil rights abuses. Families were broken up. Businesses and property were lost. Living conditions were awful and medical care insufficient. At least 1862 people fucking died! Do you think the Trail of Tears was just a fun road trip for Native Americans?

  We already knew this, but you're just admitting here that you accept all official statements from cops as factual truth, despite multiple being proven to be lies, especially when it comes to ICE and CBP.   First, Musk has considerable power and influence. He affects peoples daily lives with his whims and his machinations. He has cost people their lives and their livelihoods. So if you value human life and human rights, it's not that you hate Musk, but that you're morally consistent in condemning inhumane greed that is literally killing people. Second, being aware of what such a person is doing is just basic education. Seen those Tesla bumper stickers that say, "I bought this before Elon went crazy?" People know he's immoral and a problem. They admit they'd rather not patronize his businesses and make him more money and give him more power. Some people claim they didn't know he was problematic until DOGE. Now they know. If anyone didn't know until now, they have even more information. Suggesting people shouldn't keep themselves informed is just telling people to accept the greed and corruption. So the question isn't how do people live with the hatred of greed and apathy and antisocial power-mongers, but rather why you aren't angry about the abuses you should be well aware of? What is wrong with you that people calling out sociopathy are the problem rather than the sociopathy itself?
