    Stay strong, Ana!

I wouldn't buy any product from these bullies, and I would encourage everyone I know to avoid them as well! My husband and I learned an expensive lesson long ago about buying new, over-priced, slapped-together pieces of junk from furniture stores, even those that purport to carry 'quality' items. Everything we have is either homemade or refinished/re-purposed pieces that were made back when craftsmen cared about the pieces they produced. Blessings to you and keep the faith!

Nothing good has come from the internet?????

Sounds like some old geezer who just hates change and refuses to be dragged, even kicking and screaming, out of his cave....no comments please from the geezer gallery, I count myself among that number at the tender age of 53. I just happen to respect and embrace change and anticipate with great excitement how much joy and wonder can come from it.

Re: I've never paid for a "Death Cab for Cutie" album...

Couldn't agree more. And because I saw videos on youtube taken at various concerts, I realized I was missing some really good shows and decided to plunk down some $$$ for tickets to see artists I might not have thought to go see otherwise. Yeah, this here Internet thingamajig is baaaaaaaaaaad for the music bizness....

Uncle Dutch, as a paralegal for many years, I can honestly say that your comment, "Of course the law, more often than not, is not about justice, but about the process - or the appearance of justice." is absolutely correct. Those who do not understand this have never been any closer to the law than the latest episode of Boston Legal,

As for the chocolate issue, shame on all of you! Surely you know that there is no such thing as bad chocolate! ;)

I read the newspaper every day (OMG, I actually have a subscription!) as well as online news sources. I can't imagine restricting myself to just one resource when it comes to staying current and yes, I saved my paper the day after the election. For myself, my children and my grandchildren....not to resell on ebay.

    What else should be banned?

Nose picking! It may not be dangerous to the picker, but it could make me vomit while I'm driving if I see it!!! STOP THAT NASTY STUFF!!!!

::insert cliche Big Brother comment here::

I just recently left a firm that not only monitored our e-mails but was very upfront about the fact that they also monitored our phone calls. I never used their e-mail or their phones for personal business, mainly because I didn't care for my employer knowing any more about my personal life than necessary. Seems pretty simple to me, but I'm old school...

It was only a matter of time....

before this scam was exposed. Very interesting...

    PARENTS, DO YOUR JOB!

Some of us took the responsibility seriously and parented (and continue parenting) our children. It is not up to the government to tell me what my sons should and should not be watching/listening to/thinking. That job falls solely to my husband and I and we don't want the government EVER trying to take over that position. Just for the record, my oldest son doesn't care for video games in general, while the youngest son adores them to the point that he has designed several. At the time of this writing, neither of my sons are ax murderers.

    So right!

"fearful of what employees are doing, rather than looking for ways to help them get things done" This is exactly what I have encountered at my job. Maybe I'm being naive (of course I'm being naive), but doesn't it make sense that a well-trained employee working on good, modern equipment using up-to-date software will increase productivity, and thus, make your company more successful? In a perfect world, that would make sense. At my job, even upgrades to our dinosaur programs are whispered by the admins for fear that the 'inmates' might rally and actually feel like we are living in the age of enlightenment. It boggles the mind, but there it is. I guess I'm just grateful to know that I and my fellow cave dwellers are not alone.

    Well....

I had to sign a document when I went to work for my employer that I would not use the Internet for personal business while on the clock. I routinely do just that. If they want to fire me, they have every right, but I don't think they will. I am extremely productive in my job and I visit my music websites occasionally to keep me sane. Besides, if they don't fire all the guys in our firm who surf the porn sites daily, they probably won't bother this middle-aged music junkie... :)
