The scariest thing in that photo..

Is that her ein 2012, some states still allow you to touch a single button and vote an entire demo or repub platform without giving it any thought at all. I thought that was awful in Louisiana in the 702; but who would imagine that is still allowed?

    Patents for www. and .com

I am pretty sure my Verizon phone browser does that now, and did so as early as 4 or 5 years ago. If only we had a Congress with guts, they could change the flawed patent system. Nah.. not enough money comes in for that kind of vote!

    McCain on jobs, ebay..

Even more funny is the way people have great fun making "old and senile" jokes about McCain. It's not about being perfect - it's about being able to run a country. What has Obama ever managed? What is his experience - 6 years in the Illinois legislature (Illinois being known for pristine politics) and even there, voting 'present' much of the time? Afraid to take sides in an issue?
    Ah well..
    "Obama for present"!

    Humane Society Funds

This falls into the 'feel good law' category - you know, politicos brag about doing good when in fact nothing bad was prevented (in this case, because there was nothing to happen). Politicians are stupid and will continue to be so - but think of people who donate money to the Humane Society to help out the local animal shelters - only to find those idiots spend the money to wine and dine politicians to get them to even CONSIDER laws that are stupid. Next time Humane Society calls for money, my answer is 'no, sorry - you waste money, you don't get mine any more' - and I mention this fiasco.

    Not buying gets their attention

The roblem is that the RIAA wants it both ways - they like you to purchase an album or cd; AND they want to pretend they are "licensing' you a copy.

If it were a license, then when the CD goes bad, i should be able to get another copy of my "licensed" song for a reasonable price; but no one I know has ever gone back to Columbia, for example, and asked for a replacement for the Beach Boys "Surfer Girl" because the CD wore out. I can just imagine the guys at Columbia laughing the petitioner out of the building.

The reason the publihers are losing money now compared to past years is not primarily due to hackers and thives: it is that MP3's make it possible for me to make a LEGAL archival copy of the music I have purchased/licensed; and no, I'm not ever going to PAY for a new copy of a song I have already paid for. I have "licensed" the Beatles song "Here Comes the Sun" on record album; 8 track; casette, and on CD; and probably several copies of some of thewe formats. I can tell you, now that I have a copy of one of these archived on my pc, I will NEVER again pay for another copy of the same music.

RIAA: You've lived high on the hog for a long time, never complaining that I have paid you over and over and over for the same songs that you now want me to "license" in digital form every time I listen. Nope - game over. Stop bribing Congressmen and Senators (OK, I kno wit's easy if you have money) and stop your whining. No more new albums for me thanks....

The best way to get their attentiojn - if we ALL stoped buying music (and not hacking copies to prove their point) then the RIAA would crash.. and they would have to find a new business model. Oh - and if you are incredibly rich, think about picking up a few Congressmen of your own and help us out here)

    Ban CHILDREN in cars

Hainvg been hit three times (all under 3 mph) by women trurened around to look after their children.. infants in seats or kids in the back seat - I think women driving chidren is a major distraction - and would feel the same way about men driving kids, except somehow the men with kids have always managed to avoid hitting me, it seems.

    cell? nope, kids

I consider myself a safe driver - I have not caused an accident in over 30 years. I've used car phones and later on cell phones when I drive virtually all the time.. maybe for 15 years.

Over the last four years, I have been hit 4 times. In each of these accidents, I was hit when I was at a stand still.. 3 times at a red light, once while waiting for a parking space in the post office lot.

The common thread in EACH one of these cases? A baby or a young child in the other car and the driver had TURNED AROUND to take care of the kid. Luckily, each of thee impacts was under 5MPH and no one was hurt.. altho the property damage has run to a few thousand dollars. In one case I was stopped at a light and a woman two cars back had slowed down, but not stopped, before turning around to see how her baby was doing in the child seat. CLUELESS.

I concur with the poster who thinks this is yet another 'feel good law' to help some ineffective politician get elected. Can you imagine an elected official suggesting babies and young kids should not be allowed in a car?? I know, I know, I'm a man so I can't understand... except one of the guys who hit me was a man as well, giving his child a cookie. I guess the other common thread were the other drivers were driving VERY badly.

Hell with cellphones.. eliminate bad drivers - suspend drivers license a year or so, no 'humor driving schools' and you'll really have fewer accidents.
