Ever notice how tolerance only goes one way.... the offended say that someone doesn't tolerate their right to not be offended but in turn because they are complaining so they don't tolerate the right of someone to offend them?
I find many political and personal choices offending in some manner but I don't seek to prevent them from expressing their point of view, acting on their choices, etc..
I "Tolerate" them, but when I express the point of view that I don't agree with them, I am intolerant and must be silenced.
This is an example of the same re-occurring event throughout human interaction, the intolerance of anything someone feels might make them uncomfortable - the need to tell others how to live their life. But then again that is what I am doing right now - except if they choose not to listen to me, I won't try to disallow them from being heard - and I am "in tolerant". Good thing I ignore the noise.

?The great strength of the totalitarian state is that it forces those who fear it to imitate it.?
Senator Roarke:
Power don't come from a badge or a gun. Power comes from lying. Lying big, and gettin' the whole damn world to play along with you. Once you got everybody agreeing with what they know in their hearts ain't true, you've got 'em by the balls.
-Truer words were probably never scripted.

The best argument against democracy is a 5 minute conversation with an average voter -- paraphrased from Winston Churchill.
Or as Dave Ramsey says, they might not know who their representative is, or who the president is, but most folks know who got voted off american idol last night ....
We get the government we deserve! Always has been true, always will be.
He deserves to be punished, I always told my sons:
If you going to be bad -- be good at it....
Like anyone was actually watching who was not paid to watch (IE news types)....
Need an edit function!!! make that "seek compensation", advertisers not advertises, "of the broadcast", "are libel"..
Not enough coffee this morning!
Assuming there is monetary value to the stream of this event, namely the HUGO Awards organization, any advertises, the award recipients, etc. why can't they seem compensation due to the errors on the broadcast stream supplier?
It would seem a pretty legitimate case here for some or all of the affected parties to seek to be compensated right?
If more folks were to follow that route, it would be working within the system and provide precedent one way or another on the limits of such robot enforcement. Some here is libel for damages caused it would seem.
Not a big fan of the legal whip but it seems a good choice in this case to influence future. Sauce for the goose as it were.

Actually they can't do anything in this case.. There is in effect a law that says you can't wiretap without a warrant, but there is no penalty in the law for doing that or a recourse for cases where it can be proved. Basically there is nothing judicial, they can't strike down the law, that does no good since it already says that it's illegal. They can only say there is no law under which you can claim redress for damages done. They can't fix that.

Kudos to those who know who said this.... and ain't it the the truth.
You sure getting a bronze would be all that bad?? Or does that mean you are third across the line??
You sure getting a bronze would be all that bad??
Only if she does ..... and don't forget your scores are tallied for execution as well as technical merit, plus style. Wonder if there is a group of required skills that must be demonstrated.

Not only would it be very interesting to cross reference crime rates in the areas with highest gun ownership, I bet if they cross-reference crimes committed with firearms that are registered, we would know if the saying only criminals will have guns if guns are outlawed, holds water.
I am personally thinking it's a lot easier to buy an unregistered gun on the street than try to steal one where someone might shoot you with the very weapon you are trying to steal. But I can't prove that.
I have never seen such a study though. If these weapons are dangerous, this kind of cross study would show it. Since it hasn't come out I am betting someone has done it but it didn't show what they wanted so it never saw the light of day.
Mike - no I don't own an handgun, just long guns and I am not an NRA member - but I don't trust the government either.
