YOU are the one responsible for your protection. The police are just there to enforce the law. Enforcing the law is not the same as preventing crime.

wow, thats the dumbest thing I have read today. Grats!

    Re: Lets be honest here...

    I feel sorry for you.

I have absolute trust in my local police department.

It has been years since I had the adolescent distrust of those responsible for my protection.

    why?

People are impersonating officers and issuing false statements on behalf of the officers.

    That is a crime.

It's up to the police to investigate these crimes.

    What's techdirt got against this?

  • Lily Allen, Don't Apologize To Me, Apologize To Everyone Else

    Misanthropist ( profile ), 22 Sep, 2009 @ 12:21pm

    In the past two days...

In the past two days, I have come to the conclusion that Lily Allen is actually not smart enough to understand any issues approaching the complexity of copyright.

As such, it's rather obvious that Lily Allen has just accepted whatever her label has told her without even attempting to think about the issue for herself.

She's just not intelligent enough for it.

  • Intelligence Analyst Charged With Hacking For Logging Into An Account Sent To Him Via Email

    I disagree Mike....

If I accidentally use the same username and password on techdirt that I do on my banks website, does that mean that anyone at techdirt has authorization to access my account?

Do you think if Mike at techdirt emptied my bank account, that he shouldn't be charged with unauthorized access?

I'd love to tell you to try and find out.. but sadly, I did not make this mistake.

  • Googling Juror Leads To Verdict Being Overturned

    Misanthropist ( profile ), 22 Sep, 2009 @ 03:37am

none of it makes any sense

Why does standard procedure/practice involve making your jurors as stupid as possible?

Why shouldn't jurors be able to educate themselves as necessary in order to make intelligent informed decisions?

By the way, Mrs. Allen... I just destroyed the one cd I had of yours, and you can rest assured knowing that I won't be buying another one.

    Mouthpieces

Obviously another moron created by the labels for the labels dishing out verbatim what the labels want them to say.

    Grats on being a lemming!

Oh, and before Ms. Allen and Mr. Blunt go full on wiht their "war on fans" they may wish to check and see how well that strategy worked for Mr. Ulrich.

The Race to Obscurity is on!

While I agree that Allen probably should have properly credited and linked to the original TechDirt post, frankly I find this post deeply hypocritical.
And now TorrentFreak and TechDirt are jumping all over Allen for doing EXACTLY WHAT MIKE MASNICK SAID ANYONE COULD DO?!?

    *WHOOSH*

That sound you just heard was the whole fucking point zooming RIGHT OVER your head. Sorry, you missed it.

  • Clothing Firm Pirated Itself… And It Worked Great

    that's good and all..

That's good and all.. but it is essentially a company diluting its own trademark when done poorly.

    Example: Henckels Knives...

They are awesome kitchen cutlery. But they were also rather expensive. Til they got tired of the knockoffs making money off their name.

So they decided to make money off their own name by launching a similarly named low end company.

My parents saw henckels knives int he store one day for what they thought was an awesome price and immediately got them for me as a present. As it turns out, they were crap, and WAY overpriced crap.

So you know what? Ever since Henckels decided to cannibalize their own brand recognition in order to eek out a few more percents of profit margin, I have decided they are a shit company and instead of telling everyone how great their knives are, I warn people to stay away lest they get ripped off by paying too much money for cheap crap knives.

I think the move to cannibalize your reputation is an incredibly short sighted move that ultimately leads to rapid departure from the market.

  • Bay Bridge Traffic Problems Could Lead More Workers To Telecommuting

    Misanthropist ( profile ), 01 May, 2007 @ 05:07pm

    Telecommuting SUCKS

When you are in a cubicle farm (the only people that the true benefits fo telecommuting apply to) then telecommuting is akin to job suicide.

No matter how well you perform, EVERYONE assumes you are slacking off all day.

Obviously, IT SHOULDNT MATTER if you are doing what they paid you to do. But it does.

I refuse to telecommute. I don't need the pressure.

    The Great Divide

I, for one, look forward to the great divide. The day one internet becomes two will eventually be heralded as the great rebirthing of the internet. This can only be accomplished by net neutrality. So the sooner we get net neutrality, the better.

(This is about giving aol their own internet right?)

  • Weak Vista Launch Continues To Take Its Toll On Computer Industry

    Misanthropist ( profile ), 10 Apr, 2007 @ 07:14pm

    Re: More Anti-Microsoft FUD

AMD is hurting because Intel caught up with them. Geeze how much of an anti-Microsoft lemming do you have to be to twist this with that headline.

You might want to go back and read AMDs statement, as they were the ones blaming weak sales of vista for their current situation.

And if what you said were the case, then how would you explain the fact that INTC has also been taking a beating since the failed launch of vista?

BTW I have Vista running perfectly on my Vista system using Nvidia, HP, Epson, drivers all from the makers not just Microsoft..

If I'm not having problems, then there is no problem. That's not an argument, its an acknowledgement that you live in a bubble.

I have also installed all my XP aps just fine including some great small apps from one developer shops...

See above. Oh, and why is it that you cannot even get Microsoft's own OWA to work under vista? is it that wonderful compatability? Just curious. Sure would be nice if Microsoft would patch that. (I've seen 3 companies so far advise their employees not to get vista on their home machines if they want to be able to login to the work email.)

BUT THE FUD!!! Vista is a nice upgrade... Don't listen to the lemmings...

If only there was a word for the equal yet opposite of FUD. Ah yes, "shill".

Lay off the kool-aid man, its clouding your judgement.
