C'mon, this is basic human behavior. EVERYBODY releases what they want known and holds back what embarrasses them. Just ask anybody who has been through a divorce. You're a saint and everybody else are a-holes. A government agency run by people is going to be no different.
I'm not saying it is right, just that we shouldn't be so surprised when this happens.
The part you are forgetting is that the victims are also the perpetrators. Just because you did something that involves yourself that's illegal does not make it any more illegal. Why is it OK for a teen to do it to themselves but put an adult in jail when they are a part of the crime?
And the warrentless searches are also know as PROBATION. Look it up. If you are on parole/probation, your Parole Officer can come and search you anytime for any (or no) reason. So what's the outrage here?
Warner Brothers copyrighted the Foghorn Leghorn character, even though his mannerisms were based off of a longtime character on the Fred Allen radio show, Senator Claghorn, played by Kenny Delmar. Then they were able to force Delmar to get their permission to perform the character he originated. So as you see, there is a precedence in the ALS Association trademarking something they had no part in creating.
Everybody laughed at Ray Stevens and his song "Santa Claus Is Watching You" in 1962, but these lyrics are hitting close to home now:
Well you may thing you can sneak around and get away with something But there ain't no way, 'Cause Santa's no fool, he's really super cool. He's the secret head of the CIA. Eesh, Iish, crime don't pay (You can't do nothin' cause you're never alone He's even got a wire tap on your phone.)
