    I will take a free internet of usenet and cat videos over a regulated censored internet. We do not need their precis content. In fact over the last few months I have become so disgusted I don't even want to touch any of it. I find myself thinking about going to the movies and then want to vomit having thought about giving them any of my money.

    I for one vote that if the internet is censored it should be censored of ALL THEIR CONTENT. Just kick the danm MPAA and RIAA off the net along with all their content, see how many movies and records they can sell out of the fucking brick and mortar stores.

    You really seem to have missed out on a lot of fun. I remember their being plenty of infringing stuff online all while using dialup. It was slow transfer speeds sure, but when what you are downloading is small enough to fit on a few floppies (remember those?) it did not matter much.

    I remember finding and downloading lots of things that looking back I now know were infringing, back then I was young enough I did not know anything about copyright nor did I care. (try and find a 5 year old that gives a damn about your copyright)

    Well, I can tell you that the industry has lost at least one more paying customer. I'm done with all this stupid mess. I am going to just dive into the free shows offered online.

    I have not bothered watching regular TV in years. Netflix burned me with their price hike. I just recently tried them again but it is just not worth it. I am sick and tired of dealing with DRM bull shit and not being able to watch what I want even when paying for it.

    That really is the trouble here and something they refuse to understand. I am not going to keep paying for them to treat me like a criminal. If they want to treat me like a crook I might as well go ahead and act like one.

    Wouldn't it be simpler for him to instead of paying lawyers to sue Google, just hire a team to do some SEO and pull some positive stuff about his site up in the results? In the end it will be cheaper and more effective.

    If you plan on going after a law school you better make sure your case is rock solid with no possible flaws. I mean what do you think the law students were given for their next project?

    "Today class we have a very exciting project for you. Your assignment is to look over this case and research any precedents that are related too it. Then write up a report on why this is not infringement."

    I guess you missed what happened to Limewire. I don't think they ever claimed responsibility but most people left Limewire after it was contaminated with trash. Most songs were 30sec loops from song or viruses. People have tried many different things like that to fight against pirates. You forget though that the pirate community is kind of closely knit with the hacking community. Fighting them face to face on their turf is not going to get you much.

    There are already several peer-to-peer search engines out there. The fun thing is that as with any peer-to-peer service it will only get better the more people that use it. Them attacking Google will drive more people to these peer-to-peer services.

    Once they get enough users they will surpass Google and the MPAA/RIAA will find they created a monster they have less control over than Google.

    This is one of the big problems I see with the way our government operates. Most people don't really want any now laws. They look around and there might be one or two things that bothers them but general they don't care about getting a new law about anything. As a result they just kick back and don't do anything.

    It makes perfect sense after all, if you don't really want a new law then you don't need to get active and do anything. The problem comes that you then get these guys up there in Washington shouting how we need new laws. The idiots in charge of course then only hear those yelling for more laws because those who think things are fine how they are have staid home.

    If I was the one working at the ISP and saw this list then I would just laugh as I put it into effect. I mean sometimes you just have to stand back and laugh while some idiot kicks a hornet nest. The government wanted that list blocked so I would block it just to wake some people up to the stupidity.

    There is human error like deleting your book report and there then is human error like opps I launched nuke at North Korea. For some odd reason though the second one never seems to happen. Ever wonder why that is? It is called safeties you moron.

    When you have a great destructive power you don't set it up so some bumbling idiot can launch it. You set it up so that it requires several people to be involved and so it never "accidentally" goes off.

    There is NO excuse for a system like this to be setup in such a way it is susceptible to "human error".

    I think Paypal is already big enough to do that. The trouble is that Paypal would have to be willing to bet their entire business that the card companies would cave. The credit card companies feel confident that Paypal is not willing to kill themselves to hurt the credit cards.

    Paypal cannot exist with out credit cards but credit cards can survive without Paypal. Although I bet if Paypal stood their ground they would find a lot of backing from all corners of the net. There are a lot of sites that rely on Paypal.

    Well I guess the sale of bibles is out along with a large part of greek and roman mythology. It also puts into question a lot of history books. You could argue the history books that contain information about roman society to have "themes of rape, incest, beastiality and underage sexual content". All of that was fairly common before the fall of Rome.

    How about the balance between their right to protect their stuff and my right to use what I PAID for. You seem to want to pretend this junk only effects the "filthy pirates". Well guess what? All this DRM bullshit only AFFECTS PAYING CUSTOMERS. I know this because I have used both bought copies and downloaded copies of several products. The ones I download are EASIER to use.

    So what is the point of DRM then? It does not slow a pirate down AT ALL. Instead it makes it so that the bluray I BOUGHT will not play in my computer. Oh, and netflix also will not work on Linux BECAUSE OF DRM. So someone who tries to follow the law and consume content legally gets beat to death with this damn DRM while the pirates kick back and enjoy life.

    It will also not take long to see the protests change the mind of the companies that agree to that. I hate to break it to you but service providers have to keep their customers happy. If they don't keep end customer happy then they go out of business. So in the end the customers hold the power.

    I love how arogent you guys are at least. You really think that filtering search results will really have a lasting effect? Come on, companies spend millions on trying to lock down their stuff with DRM only to have it cracked by some 12 year old.

    There are already peer-to-peer search engines and they will only become more powerful as people look to get around censorship. So what will these deals do? They will kill off any search engine who agrees to them.

    I fear it is you my friend who is trying to put the genie back in the bottle. The world has had a taste of what it is like to have instant access to information. Try as you like to stop it people will find a way. The only way to stop the spread of information now is to bring down the entire system.

    If everyone who supports the RIAA would fight FOR our rights you could make some progress toward moving censorship off of the web. Fighting against those who are fighting against censorship isn't accomplishing ANYTHING.
