  Bullshit. If my 6 year old second cousin knows the difference between those three things (we enrolled her in a computer literacy class at the local public library), then damned sure adults should know what the difference is between them when they are specialists in that field.
  
  This was not an 'accident'. This was a motivated attempt at silencing free speech on the internet and demonstrates why ANY censorship laws against ANYTHING (even something so controversial as child pornography) are bad because they can be and are abused.

  Well, the fact is that licensing should be BLANKET licensing to release things in any country where that thing is legal.
  
  None of this "License for the U.S.", "License for Australia", and "License for South Africa" bullplop. That is just an attempt at copyright owners trying to make their stuff appear more 'valuable' by making companies/people pay multiple times for content.

  Actually, censorship is NEVER justified. 99% of the time when someone is talking about 'censoring' something, they are actually hoping to push it 'underground' so that it won't come out, become popular, and become normalized.
  
  They tried it with interracial marriages, they tried it with homosexuality, hell.... they even tried it with heterosexuality outside of 'marriage' (a purely human invention).
  
  Bottom line is that we should not allow any censorship and tell people "You don't like X? Fine, you don't have to do it, but leave the people alone who want to do it unless they are physically forcing someone else into something against their will!"

  Sounds to me like you were right at the beginning of the last paragraph: they have no idea what their privacy policy should be.
  
  Until these websites stop banning people for things like "comments harmful to minors" (Newsvine) and speaking out against societies viewpoint on some subjects (especially sexual viewpoints) I'm not going to use my real name nor a permanent e-mail address.
  
  We need to have the First Amendment/the right to free speech (which is supposed to protect free speech even when it isn't government trying to clamp down on that) mean something online before I would support this.

  Forget it. The basis of anonymity is that people can put out their true feelings on subjects without fear of reprisal in real life from other people.
  
  I am not going to use my real name on Youtube because of that, some of my opinions are very...... controversial to put it mildly.

  Joey, the point is that they SHOULD be the same as phone data. There is no reason (outside of misleading customers) to have those two things separated and charged for differently.
  
  I'm fine with QoS.... but restrictions like these, when they are artificial restrictions, I am damned well not and I think that these companies should be rapped on the hand with a 2 ton stone hammer.

  Guess again. Attorney Generals are more than willing to intervene in cases because they do not have to worry about being reelected. In most places, they are appointed (if I am remembering correctly).

  Doesn't matter if it is or not. Bottom line is that if the devices are not illegal, the Olympics do NOT (even if it is private property) have the right to keep people from using legal devices.
  
  It would be like saying that someone has to use an iPhone when their Android phone is just as good and works just as well.

  Even if they did intercept a plot to do that (yes, it can be done), that does not mean that they get to ban these devices period.
  
  If they find a person actively doing MiM attacks, arrest that person. Don't ban everyone from using their wireless devices at the Olympics.

  Government needs to be told that they cannot wiretap people (or scan all people's calls) without a warrant pointing to a specific phone or a specific person.
  
  One or the other. "Eschelon" or whatever they are now calling it needs to be killed, it's just a way to harass people who dare to speak out against government policies.

  There is absolutely nothing 'hinky' about this unless the school is going to try and claim that the work that he turned in wasn't his work!

  Actually, I don't see any 'ethical' problems here whatsoever. This is nothing worse than going to a student who previously took the class in question with a good grade and having them tutor you for cash.

  Good point. Many parents try to limit how much TV their children watch (I personally think it's a bad idea to try to do that, it just makes your kids resent you) so they do not get fat (though that is more coming from lack of exercise and high-calorie intake).
  
  Netflix's online portion gives parents a lot of control over their children's watching.
