But I honestly am often surprised by how often the concept that you cannot trademark, or monopolize, a term that is purely descriptive of the product or service the mark is for.
Maybe I'm not reading it right, but this sentence feels awkward and incomplete. Leaving some bits out that are unnecessary for demonstration, “I honestly am often surprised by how often the concept that you cannot trademark a term” … causes problems? Is glossed over? Gets forgotten? You're surprised at how often the concept what?
It feels like the sentence should either read like one of the above examples or “I honestly am often surprised by the concept that you cannot trademark a term”.
Great piece as usual, I just got tripped up by that phrasing and had to think about it for a minute. Thanks!
