I appreciate that you offer us real content. You are one of the few sites that I visit directly every day. My rotation of sites is reddit, facebook, twitter, techdirt and still occasionally slashdot. Your content is important enough to me that I give you a slot in that rotation.
Something that is overlooked is the generation of cord-nevers that we are raising. As our kids consume more content away from the living room TV, they are even less dependent on that cable content.
We cut the cord a long time ago and our kids have never really known cable. We were visiting someone at the hospital a while back and they were trying to watch TV.
We first had to explain to them that they could not just tell us what they wanted to watch. We had to first look at what was playing. Once they picked from their 3 options, they asked if we would start it from the beginning. By the time we got done explaining that it was streaming on a schedule, the commercials started.
They were clearly not impressed with cable.

What are they looking for that
Is this phone really that important to the case? Can't they get all the data they need from the CIA. They already have a copy of it, don't they?
Besides the call logs and text messages stored at the cell carrier, what more are they really hoping to find?
What would they have done before we had cell phones?
Are these rules universal?
Can he travel to a country that is lax on copyrights and sell it to someone else there? What about international waters?
I would bet someone that is willing to pay top dollar for that video has a yacht that they could take out for an afternoon.
