Much more serious than the Y2K problem.
BTW: both DEW and some Gov. agencies were down for several days, but they kept it quiet.
There is an organization called the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with the authority and responsibility to investigate incidents and situations like this.

How many full service scanner, copier, printers have been sold with the specific scan and send e-mails? Answer: Millions! Are they going to sue HP, Panasonic, Lexmark, etc.
Not really!
Do you really think people are going to be happy going back from digital to Blue-Ray, to DVD, to CD to analog cassette, to 8 Track to vinyl? I don't think so. It would be a rather small niche market. Not really worth the effort.
Way back when, 100yrs ago gasoline was so cheap that pricing it at $0.06 or $0.07 was not deemed appropriate. So the powers that be (gas companies) came up with the 9/10 scheme as a way to encourage everyone to pay more for what they were getting or were getting raped for. Everyone knew it was 6.9 cents but that's less then 7 cents per gallon.
