  Don't like to be, no, but are still in many cases. Ever flown into LaGuardia in NYC? You skim the tops of tall buildings (not skyscrapers, but still really tall) close enough that you can see kids in the windows waving at the jets flying by. LaGuardia was made for small aircraft, not DC9s and such, so the approaches for the large jet liners is rather dangerous, both for the jets and the people along the approach path. That said, the approach in the video is clearly nonsense. Just not as nonsensical as you think. :)

  Probably, but they were trying 6 to 8 year-olds as adults not much later than that. Back then, he'd have probably just been sent to juvey until he was 18.

  The "fake" parts have already been removed from the video. There's still three thefts in it. And yes, "shopping" by thieves cruising neighborhoods for packages could occur almost anywhere, so pay attention to those Amazon emails telling you when your package is due and has been delivered.

  If it causes physical harm, then it's assault with a deadly weapon. Home Alone kid would have gotten serious prison time in real life as boobie traps of the level in the movie are really nasty felonies. I doubt the glitter bomb would result in charges. He did record audio, so he could still be in violation of wiretap laws, depending on the state he's in.

  I'm not sure what's more amazing - that the guy spent so much time and money on a bait package for thieves, or that he has that big a problem with thieves stealing packages (the glitter bomb got stolen three times on the video). I think I'd move if crime were that bad where I lived.

  Yep. DNS is faster than ever since switching to DNS over HTTPS. I never get those frequent pauses when going to a different site that used to plague my connection. Connections are damn near instant now.

  When I moved, Spectrum was the only game in town. But at least the cable modem is FREE! Of, course, a little further questioning confirmed that the modem fee is baked into the service plan, so using your own modem won't save you any money.

  Funny, I'm also a computer program, and I see my computer as my lovable dog. He's loyal to a fault, doing exactly what I tell him, be it sit, roll over, or attack the neighbors. He's loyal, but REALLY stupid. I gotta communicate with him in really simple terms - "run, spot, run" level of language. Nothing mystical going on here...

  They'll have to build anywhere there's a large group of customers, so cities and suburban areas WILL be saturated. That means you'll only get useful data from sensors in areas that the phone companies don't care about - the most rural of rural areas. But you need sensor data in inhabited areas, too. After all, that's where the weather will have the greatest affect.

  That last line is important, but I've seen a number of people pushing to regulate tech more mock this idea, rolling their eyes and saying "media literacy is not the answer."

  These are the same people who rant and rave that copyright propaganda must be taught in all schools from K to College.

  It's the same issue as they found putting breath analyzers in bars - the customers use them to see who can get the most drunk rather than the intended purpose of making sure you AREN'T drunk before driving.

  I think you're looking at it wrong. Comparing how many join to how many killed is a fool's choice. I don't care if half the nation joins if it means that deaths decrease. Let them yammer all they want - it just means they're more likely to be caught. If you drive them underground, you may not have to listen to as many assholes, but you stand a better chance of getting killed by those same fewer assholes.

  Interpretation

  Deployment in other venues has been just as error-prone, making one wonder how low Dutch law enforcement sets the bar for "indispensable."

  It's all in how you interpret it. They mean indispensable as in a new toy they just GOTTA have (at the taxpayer dollar). We (the public) would prefer it mean helpful in doing the job they're being paid to do.

  Not surprising

  That's not because of any outstanding ability, but largely because he belongs to the country's ruling class and assumes the position is his by right, as do many of his supporters.

  Not surprising to see that that attitude extends to women, nor that he's bad with money. Someone born to money and privilege rarely knows the value of a dollar (or pound or euro), and people are merely objects for them to toy with.

  Nearly all cars CAN be opened with master keys. One of the lesser known evils about cars. In fact, most car makers only have about 100 different keys for all cars. Certain models can be opened by almost any key for the same model (that was particularly bad about Mazdas in the 90s and 00s). Car makers don't like it when you bring this up, but it leads to hilarious/tragic incidents like where identical make cars park near each other and one driver isn't paying attention and drives off in the wrong car, not realizing that even though the key opened/started the car, it wasn't theirs. They get in a wreck and die, and the cops report the wrong person dead going by the registration in the glove box. That happened quite often in Houston when I lived there.
