The simple thing to do is not allow custom numbers at all. Just whatever random letter/number combo you get is what you get!!! Problem solved.

Who shouldn't China, or Russia, or even France just do the same thing and say, here's our warrant, we want access to Microsoft's or Apple's, or whoever's servers in the U.S. Should they get that right? It's the same thing the U.S. Government is trying to pull after all.

    Re: My Collection

There's nothing wrong with buying music and having it on whatever you want. I have a lot of music on CD's myself I paid for over the years. I was buying CD's long before there was MP3's.

Still it's music you own. You know what you own. Then you get tired of it. It doesn't change and get updated. Same old same old, so you're off figuring out what you should buy next.

I just got tired of that. Really for the price of 1 CD a month or less, you gain access to a huge amount of music.

These days for myself, I just had enough. Now I tune into audio blogs which is free, and if not that, then I play some Amazon Prime Music which is free with Prime Service, so I might as well take advantage of that. The music selection is a lot smaller, but more then good enough for my needs.

For those times when I can't stream music, like up in the mountains, I have a lot of the music I own on a SD card in my trucks radio and I can switch over and start playing that.

I havn't used a Cassette Deck or tape in YEARS. I jumped on CD's pretty early on. I didn't get much into records. I'd play some of my Dad's 8-tracks. I used a cassette Tape on my Commodore Vic-20 to Record and play back programs.

    Re: Personal View

I'm not a big sports person so I don't watch a whole lot. but I'm a 49 fan, but I haven't watched a single game this year. That's because of Colin Kaepernick and his getting down on one knee B.S. If you're going to bring that crap to the game, I'm not going to watch the game. You get paid big bucks to play the game because of this country. What he does on his free time, I don't care.

Since it's been spreading, I haven't watch a single sports thing of anything. I have better things to do.

    Re:

The whole medallion thing is just wrong. Yes it's FAIR. UBER can't just pick someone up flagging them on the side of the road like a Taxi can!!!

Most of the people driving a Taxi may not even own the Medallion, but a rich person who owns many of them. If you don't like it, you are free to dump that taxi and get on board UBER yourself!! Who's stopping you?

The free market will balance out also. If there's to many UBER drivers and you can't make money, some will stop doing it, making things better for everyone left. If there's a big demand, prices go up, people want to then start driving for UBER. So it works both ways. The whole medallion thing is dumb and very limiting. Just another scam for a city to make money from.

We already know what we'll get with a Clinton back in office! No thanks!!! I'm not a big fan of Trump either. He's not a Republican. Just another big RINO. At least he's run things unlike Obama. Your husband being president doesn't qualify YOU to be president.

Hillary is just a big fat criminal liar. Trump is clearly no politician and says whatever is on the top of his head. There hasn't been a good Republican option in YEARS. It's been RINO's and the country has being going more and more left.

    Re:

I have a Brother Laser Jet and it has ZERO DRM crap on it. It's easy to reset the toner cartridge. Hell it only took a cheap kit to convert the demo toner cartridge into a full normal cartridge which was simple, as it's a snap to fill it up with new toner. The toner and drum can also come apart if you need to replace either making costs cheaper.

Best of all it can sit for weeks and then start printing out perfect pages. These other brands with chips on them blow!!!

  • Arkansas Congressman Who Helped Protect Citizens' Right To Record Police Arrested For Recording Police

    Re:

They were across the street and the police were harassing them!!! Wasted a bunch of time on nothing. So what if they were being recorded. If anything it was the police doing what they did that cause them to go ahead and cross over to get a better angle of recording.

Just because the police tell you something, doesn't make it right. The second guy that walked up close up front, he got a little close, but shouldn't have been arrested over that. The congressman was more then far enough away. The police just just don't like to be recorded and I can see why.

If you have nothing to hide you should welcome the recordings showing you doing your job correctly and professionally. That wasn't these police officers.

Walker was across the street, way out of the way, and the police were harassing him and wasted lots of time on that instead of just doing their job. It really made the police look like clueless idiots!!! They had every right to stand there and record what was going on. Crossing the street after being hassled by the police, not so bright. The other guy shouldn't have gotten so close though, he's just asking for it by those racist cops!!!

  • UK Government Says Smart Meters Can Definitely Be Trusted Because GCHQ Designed Their Security

    JBDragon ( profile ), 29 Sep, 2016 @ 09:37am

    Re: Re: Power Meter Security

Smart meters don't need to update pricing, that's just dumb! They measure the electricity used. Your electric company takes that number that it gets from your smart meter and charges you the currant rate. If you're one that is setup to charge different rates depending on the hour, lower prices at night, higher prices during the day, it'll send that Data. In fact, if you look at your bill, it'll generally show you how much power you're using at each hour.

But like all things, you need 2 way communication. The smart meter is normally just doing what a meter reader would do. Send the current usage. Subtract last month number to the currant number and you get how much power was used.

2 way is so the meter knows the power company received it's data. It's also so they can turn on/off your power without someone coming in a truck and pulling the meter to kill your power. It's killing lots of jobs. It's all just done in the office.

  • What Cord Cutting? Cable Sector Hiked TV Prices 40% In Last Five Years

    JBDragon ( profile ), 29 Sep, 2016 @ 06:10am

I cut the cord about 6 years ago after paying for cable for 18 years. I couldn't justify it anymore. Currently I have a basic bundle which includes HBO because that was cheaper then Internet ONLY. I got a cheap TV Cable box I haven't hooked up because I'm still using my antenna. I get my HBO using the HBO Now App, though Comcast doesn't allow it to work on TIVO so I have to use it on the ROKU or AppleTV. Pretty lame of them. So I pay about $66 a month.

The only problem with this is you would be taking other people's stuff that the sheriff department had stolen!

  • Former Refugee Who Took Skittles Photograph Donald Trump Jr. Used In A Stupid Meme Threatens Copyright Lawsuit

    JBDragon ( profile ), 21 Sep, 2016 @ 07:47am

It's a bowl of Skittle's. Wouldn't it have been easy enough to just take your own picture. Then you don't have to worry about any copyright. It wouldn't have been that hard and cheap enough to do. As for music, do you really need any? Play some classical that's not under copyright. Unless you get in writing that you can legally use a song. In many of these cases, they do legally get the song and PAID for it's use, but the artist doesn't like it. Who gives a F about that! Playing fair by the rules and yet they cry like little baby's because their hate for the Republican party runs so deep to them. Cry me a river. It's almost worth just sticking to songs under no copyright. Then you don't hurt some poor artist feelings. Goo, goo, gaa, gaa.

  • HP Launched Delayed DRM Time Bomb To Disable Competing Printer Cartridges

    JBDragon ( profile ), 20 Sep, 2016 @ 10:16am

If I was going to get a inkjet again, I'd get one of the Epson ones that don't use a cartridge, you fill it with a bottle of ink I guess and it lasts a long time. I destroyed a couple Epson printers with aftermarket ink. The first time I tried refilling the cartridges and resetting the chip on it to show full. It never printed good after that. The next one I just tried using after market ink cartridges and that ended up destroying that printer. The last one, I still have but haven't used in quite some time. Not since going laser, it has 6 cartridges and it seemed like I was always replacing those things. They were not that large, but at about $12 each and there's 6 of them, and I would only install Epson ones, it was pretty costly.

My Brother Laser Printer I have now, there's ZERO copy protection. There's no chip. There's a mechanical dial on the toner cartridge on the normal FULL ones. The Trial one that comes with the printer doesn't have it. But going aftermarket, you can get a cheap kit and turn that Trail toner unit into a full unit by swapping a few parts. This is also how you reset it, buy resetting the dial. Pull the plug, dump out any old toner that's left, and fill it up with the new aftermarket toner. It's toner designed for that Laser. It's simple to pop the plug and fill up, reset and away you go. Also since the Toner and the drum are 2 pieces that snap together, it's much cheaper in you have to replace one or the other at some point. It's not a whole big all in one unit.

The thing warms up fast and is printing away perfectly. It can sit for days on end and the first sheet that comes out is perfect. Color I can live without. If I want to print out some color photo's, I can just go to Costco online, and sent my pictures there to be printed out and then go pick them up locally all done and I think with better results and flexibility.

A Laser is really the only way to go these days. They're cheap enough now and not having to deal with Ink cartridges and head cleaning and always swapping cartridges makes it well worth it. Most of them also have CHIPS!!! So now you're having to get something to reset those. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that.
