I disagree, Romney would ask for a dollar, and give a grand show on why he should get it. He will be offered a nickle, and take it. Obama would then want the dime, but when things got heated would settle for three pennies. I mean that is how the gov't works now?
They have patented their seeds, which are a product of the method they use to create the GMO plants. So essenitally the US condones this as we practice it. I can see that one method is natural cross breeding and one is Genetics, but let's face it, genetic tinkering is just cross breeding on steroids. Eventually it will get done, but this is faster.
However the point I am trying to make is monsanto has a patent on a seed, and farmers have been sued for growing plants they did not plant because wind drifted the seeds or (i think) in one case the seeds were mixed in with other seeds.
I would think that after you buy the seeds, if your planted crops produce seeds you would be free to use them. I do not think this is the case.
While I agree with the original, I also see your point.
I look at it this way and again this is NOT perfect but:
You buy a single song online - you have no right to resell it.
You buy a CD Album in the store - you have the right to resell.
The original poster is correct in saying you are NOT buying a product when you buy say Microsoft office. You are buying a cd that facilitates access via a code to use the software. Sure can you pass the cd to a friend, and get 2 for 1 - well you used to. But this is stealing, plain and simple and most of us are OK with thi type of theft, but it does not make it right. But you cannot resell your office CD to someone.
Software is not a physical product, like a song file, it is simply access to something. In the example, you access music. But ony the artist et al has the right to sell the music.
The same is true for the NFL broacasts. You can watch it, invite friends over and watch it but the right to sell "the product" is for the NFL only. You cannot charge entry into your home under the pretense of watching the super bowl. You do not have the rights.
Peronsonally I think items like software and music files are infinite goods and thus should not carry much value. However software is challenging. How do you make anything off software if your business model is sell it once, and then let the world use it for free. Every software shop in the world would close if that were the case because it would be economically impossible to sustain a business.
Data from Berlin (Germany) show a significant correlation between the increase in the stork population around the city and the increase in deliveries outside city hospitals (out-of-hospital deliveries). However, there is no correlation between deliveries in hospital buildings (clinical deliveries) and the stork population. The decline in the number of pairs of storks in the German state of Lower Saxony between 1970 and 1985 correlated with the decrease of deliveries in that area. The nearly constant number of deliveries from 1985 to 1995 was associated with an unchanged stork population (no statistical significance). However, the relevance of the stork for the birth rate in that part of Germany remains unclear, because the number of out-of-hospital deliveries in this area is not well documented. A lack of statistical information on out-of-hospital deliveries in general is a severe handicap for further proof for the Theory of the Stork.

It should be a joke, but I am not sure LOL! The site seems legit.
Spoken like a true idiot. Religion knows the truth, and you dare not question. Science proposes a truth and then spends the next millions of years repeating and comparing. Nothing is a fact in science. Everything must be repeatable, and testable. This is why there are 1,000,000 religions and only one science. Every person in every country followd the same rules to produce the same results. To call it religion shows how ignorant you are, or shows you are trying to bring science down to the level of superstitious religious nonsense.
People with at least two brain cells to rub together to produce a thought see through you.

In science, 'fact' can only mean 'confirmed to such a degree that it would be perverse to withhold provisional assent.' I suppose that apples might start to rise tomorrow, but the possibility does not merit equal time in physics classrooms.
--Stephen Jay Gould
But the truth is, Gravity is only a theory. It is not fact. No one can prove an apple will not float up. We can just show that in the trillions of times and apple is let go, it always falls. This is a science fact. Very different from mathematical or logic facts.
Speaking of logic, is it even possible to prove a negative? I mean can anyone here even prove I don;t have a live mermaid in my pool? I dare ya.
First, I think Steele and the like are completely sleavy for the tactics they use. However according to lawyers who defend the people Steele sues, what he does is perfectly legal and perfectly in line with protecting his client's rights. However IMO it would serve best to go after the people distributing the content and not the people consuming it. But the fact is, both parties are doing something illegal. That is a fact NO ONE can change.
I fear it is just a matter of time (or past time) before the content owners begin to leak their material all over the place just to fish for settlements.
In this case, the poor lady got swept up by the large net by actions likely not her own. If it is true that she is responsible for actions taken on her network by others, then the law is the law. I would think common sense here would prevail as she likely had her grandson set things up in the easiest way possible for an old lady to use new technology, and thus should be given a pass. But at some point we cannot make excuses for ignorance. It ain't bliss.
Not so much the cause, not so much affects but rather they simply denied that the climate is changing. Nearly every scientist in the world agrees that it is changing. And I have to post thisrather large quote/reply. So if the GOP in congress can define scientific laws and principles, why can;t the politicians in texas define what a newspaper is?
Mr. Chairman, I rise in opposition to a bill that overturns the scientific finding that pollution is harming our people and our planet.
However, I won?t rise physically, because I?m worried that Republicans will overturn the law of gravity, sending us floating around the room.
I won?t call for the sunlight of additional hearings, for fear that Republicans might excommunicate the finding that the Earth revolves around the sun.
Instead, we will embody Newton?s third law of motion and be an equal and opposing force against this attack on science and on laws that will reduce America?s importation of foreign oil.
This bill will live in the House while simultaneously being dead in the Senate. It will be a legislative Schr?dinger?s cat killed by the quantum mechanics of the legislative process!
Arbitrary rejection of scientific fact will not cause us to rise from our seats today. But with this bill, pollution levels will rise. Oil imports will rise. Temperatures will rise.
And with that, I yield back the balance of my time. That is, unless a rejection of Einstein?s Special Theory of Relativity is somewhere in the chair?s amendment pile.
yes, but I see how my post is confusing as I did not fully read the links and get the whole story. But if he were arrested per my sceario, and charged with disorderly conduct the gov't would need to prove FB is a public space, which we all know it is not. Disorderly is a charge based on being a jerk in public beyond your normal 1st ammendment rights to be a jerk.
Thank you for correcting me as I did not follow all the links and get the whole story. Big problem these days. Well in that case, I think it's over the top but fully justified.
The law was originally based on disturbing the peace laws, and both are solely based in the PUBLIC SPACE. Facebook is a public web application but it's not like the schoolyard. It's more like a clubhouse where certain members are allowed to join and express opinions that other people might not like. I wonder if they would arrest the KKK simply for meeting together and expressing racist / bigot opinions on the same charge - so I view facebook as a special club you must be accepted into before you get the goods. I guess I see both sides and it would be a great debate topic, assuming each side can stick to facts.
However I think this is over the top and any good lawyer should be able to prove the charge was misapplied. Otherwise the gov't needs to prove facebook is a public place.

This sounds like the intelligent design folks who decided there was a creator and then went and found enough evidence presented the right way to make their point (without ever proving their original assumption). It's a near perfect system for folks who want to believe this already and aren't willing to actually ask a critical question or even question what the authority has told them to beleive.
See the trick is to present the right "evidence" ingore anything to the contrary and use big science like words to sound like you are smart. Like lambs to theslaughter.
I served on a federal case 6 months ago in Mass. I was not able to bring a laptop or phone past security. We were told to not read the newspaper or even go online looking for anything related to the case while at home - we could not even look up definitions or medical terms. Finally we were told to NOT discuss the case with anyone, not even spouses because their opinions could taint our opinions and they have not heard the details from witnesses. The role of the juror is to decide based on his or her knowledge NOT information learned via research or other people.
I am not sure I agree with all those rules, I think informed jurors are better able to reach a decision. But the theory is that if you need to know it, then the lawyers should provide witnesses to explain it. Fair enough.
I find the right thing is that jurors have no phone, no electronics etc. Call it your civic duty to suffer withoout technology for a few days.

How is this different from Monsanto?

TSA is good for nothing
They never miss the chance to touch a child or degrade a dying old woman, but ask them to find a taser and they are completely lost.
I have a two year old and I would certainly choose jail over letting some TSA agent feel here up.
This reminds me of the time the GOP denied climate change
