Hey China, I have a whole list of things I don't like, could you ban those too? Pretty pleeeeeaaaase?!
- Anchovies
- Any mention of iPod's, iPad's, or anything that starts with a lowercase 'i' followed by an uppercase letter
- American politics
- Nepal
April fools! Wait... it's real? Well, this shouldn't last long in court.
Bah, a lot of people who caused the financial crisis in the US got away with it, slightly bruised up after landing with a golden parachute. Some of them now work for the government. Cockroaches are hard to kill... I strongly recommend everyone to watch Inside Job, which takes a hard look at how little the legal system really cares about financial crimes. Murder upsets a jury a lot more than fraud, apparently.
Why does Fox News get away with lying and propaganda every single day? Sorry, but this world is messed up, and this blog proves it almost every day. Believe me I wish it wasn't so.
If only there was an afterlife for these people to get what they deserve. Unfortunately that's not the case, so we have to punish these people while we still can! Or take a chill-pill. Or both? I do like the idea of hiring a few civil engineers and architects to design a building in the sole purpose of messing with someone's resting place. Feels like a huge waste of time, but also a source of enjoyment for many. Like Jersey Shore with more ethics.
THAT's the 'service' they offer! It's like a charity... for the low price of $10 per month, you can make a filthy pig richer than he already is! Without knowing it!
Seriously, I'm not kidding: shoot the fuck. I'm in Canada and I don't have a gun, but I'm assuming there are lots of people with guns in Arizona. Nobody's going to sue you for shooting Hitler's long lost brother. Seriously, I'll chip in to buy the bullet.
You're asking a logical question and demanding a logical answer? Sorry, this is not the kind of world we live in.
You're probably right as to what's going to happen, plus or minus a few details. I was just trying to say what SHOULD happen. People will look at what WILL happen and will think that being a scum is viable (and easy) and it will encourage them to do the same.
Shoot that fucker in the head, a small price to pay for a sharp decline in the number of scams. Really, is Jason Hope so precious that we can't sacrifice him for the greater good? We shot Gandhi and nobody seems to be bothered by it.
Karma Police...
Reinstate death penalty, get rid of Jason Hope, refund all customers, sue the carriers, profits go to charity. There's no debate to be had here, sorry, Jason Hope clearly doesn't feel like hiding the fact that he's parasitic scum. When you find cancerous cells, you kill them.
I have a strange feeling that he's going to get away with it and retain a large portion of his fortune. People like this make me lose all hope in humanity, it's truly disgusting.
Part of the system works! Democracy's now up to 11%!

Apparently she's been in legal trouble for fraudulent credit card purchases in the past?
Karma's a bitch old lady... karma's a bitch.
The Earth is at the center of the Universe, God is real, and Julian Assange is guilty. Now for your rebuttal- LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALA.
She should sue cancer while she's at it.
I agree it's tricky to learn all there is to know about any story. A single source will never cover everything. I guess the important thing is to try to get as much info as possible and not to not make your mind up on an issue until you're confident you know enough to do so.
I suspect Tunisia itself isn't sure exactly what's going on...
"I read absolutely nothing about a guy setting himself on fire!"
Maybe you need to diversify your news sources.
Well, my answer to this question would be that Mr. X is the only guilty party here, and that someone should assign a psychologist or something similar to find out what caused him to rob a corner store (poverty, drugs... how can we help and turn him in the right direction rather than stick him in a hole at our costs).
The quiz is really just a half-serious question directed at lawyers out there, and is related to the story in how so many lawsuits don't make any sense or sue the wrong party.
It's not a matter of who CAN be sued, but who SHOULD be sued, a question that not many people are asking themselves. I'm sure you have to pass some sort of ethics class before you pass the bar exam, but who the fuck is teaching that class???
Good point; too many reporters over simplifying facts so they can be delivered in easily digestible bits to their readers, along with a sensational headline featuring one of the hip new technologies. The faster you publish a story like that, the better are your changes at getting those precious 'hits', resulting in sweet, sweet ill-gotten gains.
For most readers, those biased articles are the smartest thing they can handle, but I still believe reporters should be smarter than that and have a responsibility to give an accurate view of what's going on. That's of course assuming that reporters ought to be any smarter than their readers, and I'm pretty sure even that's misguided.
Kudos to Mike and many others to dig much deeper and peak behind the smoke and mirrors, though of course kudos to the TechDirt community who's smarter than the average newspaper readership and are therefore smart enough to demand and understand the real story, with all their intricacies.
Mr. X holds up a corner store using a pistol, and a Hyundai as a gateway car. He found the store on GoogleMaps on his Dell computer but still got lost along the way there and asked Mrs. Y, a pedestrian, for directions. Who should be sued?
a) Mr. X, for the hold up;
b) None of the below;
c) The corner store, for failure to prevent hold up;
d) Hyundai, for allowing robber to get away;
e) Dell, for assisting in the robbery;
f) All of the above;
g) The pistol manufacturer, for making people-killing devices and distributing them;
h) Google, for failing to add a notice on GoogleMaps that corner stores should not be robbed;
i) Mrs. Y, for linking to infringing activities;
j) The United States Government for failure to educate Mr. X on proper conduct;
k) Microsoft, for having a lot of money;
l) God, for standing by while it was happening;
m) The Universe, for allowing the robbery to happen;
n) Only the people on this list who have money.
logic +1!
Re:
Hum... ya, Mike, show some kindness for the alleged ax-murderer here. He just wants to write a book about what WOULD HAVE HAPPENED if he was the ax-murderer. Poor, poor fellow. *cough* O.J. *cough*
