I have been subjected to pat-downs on EVERY LEG of EVERY TRIP I have made in the past six months. (I fly at least once per month.) She and her laughter disgust me.
The "what pretty hair you have" dialogue from the TSA officer is word for word what a TSA agent said to me, a PTSD sufferer as a result of abuse, while subjecting me to a search (while I sobbed). I have a feeling this creepy talk is right from a TSA script, which takes my anger to a level I didn't think possible.
These protesters aren't "anarchists" - far from it. They advocate for a huge government that takes care of them from cradle to grave. (The NUS is notoriously socialist.) As a near-anarchist, I am a little sickened at the idea of people like this being associated with anarchism.
They also took over the roof of the HQ of the ruling party, the Tories, and dropped two fire extinguishers onto the ground below - narrowly missing killing a police officer, from what I've read. This photo is pretty darn perfect, so I can't really fault them all for using it - a bunch of upper-middle-class white boys on the roof of a building isn't nearly as evocative.
Socialists do indeed hate money, which is why "commercial" is a dirty word to them. They take it as axiomatic that money is bad and thus "ruins everything". Unless, of course, they're helping themselves to some of *yours* in order to finance their totalitarian projects.
Consider the source of this title. From what I have read of them in the past, they think capitalism is bad and are hostile to free markets. To them, it really is as simple as "money ruins everything".
You guys are doing wonders for my frequent flyer miles. I highly recommend that anyone who's a fan of Techdirt registers for this event (but not until after I've got my ticket). It was the best event of its type, by far, I have been to, and well worth the 6000 mile round trip.
Agree totally with Dorai. I'm glad I happened to be in CA from London this past weekend, so was able to attend, and will be sorely tempted to fly over for future Greenhouses. Very well done, guys.
I see nothing to cheer about here. One person makes a terrible, regrettable decision, and the result is a dumbed-down, "We're all toddlers now" approach to commerce. I'm glad this is self-imposed rather than any regulation, but it's still not called for. Howsabout clearly communicating costs, sending notifications when spending is getting high, and anything but treating customers like idiots?
You're trolling us, right?
I've never seen Techdirt come out in support of something so ridiculous.
What a liar
I have been subjected to pat-downs on EVERY LEG of EVERY TRIP I have made in the past six months. (I fly at least once per month.) She and her laughter disgust me.
Creepy bonus

One more thing

If by "common wealth" you mean stealing.

No Subject Given

Re: I'm sold
Really? It sounds like a blast to me, and a good opportunity to learn from others there.
I'm sold
Just bought two places, for myself and Hillary Johnson of Kerabu, Inc. Can't wait!
