I can't try Google. I don't have money to hire lawyers that could match Google's.
There are much better arguments for merger. How about that for example:
AT&T and T-Mobile merger will save tons of paint (hence natural resources) by eliminating one "T": AT&T-Mobile.
(Hopefully no one noticed that AT&T could make this happen without this merger by reducing redundancy in its own trademark.)
What about dynamic phone URLs?
I envision a bright future: you whistle a tune in your phone's microphone without securing a license and suddenly copyright trolls send a subpoena to your phone company....
Indeed, diverting police to relatively safe Magnificent Mile already resulted in loss of life:

For those not from Chicago, Hyde park is a diverse and fascinating neighborhood on the South Side, home of the University of Chicago, and it is surrounded by troubled areas.
In old good Soviet Union there was no way to get published if you were not a member of the Guild of Authors (Союз писателей), so at least it was never a question of venue. Bureaucracy and Authority always gravitate towards such simplicity, so if no one fights Orwellian tendencies, we will eventually end up there.
Do you know how many millions of people don't have access to drinking water? Yet you find it OK to close your eyes on this issue and bitch about an insignificant incident? Hypocrisy.
I have not seen Gasland, but I have a feeling that this documentary narrator's name is Barbara Streisand.
Another rarely mentioned instance of the public domain value is the freedom to vandalize the culture. If Victor Hugo's works were copyrighted, and I was the rightholder, I would sue Disney for defamation :)
Agreed. Another example: Zefirelly made "Romeo and Juliet" based on an obscure work of previously unknown author William... (sorry, can't recall his last name). Kudos to Zefirelli for creating a movie of both cultural and commercial value, otherwise the humanity wouldn't know about that fascinating love story.
The Public Domain Says There's No Value In RIAA
I shuffled just a couple of words, and suddenly, magically the title phrase started making sense.
I have a problem with the statement that copyright is the tool to protect creators, but I also have a problem with the statement that copyright was set to incentivize creation. Copyright is about money, and when in the world money were incentives to create? It?s the opposite: when artist?s goal is to make money, no matter how hard he tries, he can?t create a significant piece of art, less a masterpiece. If you know an example of monetary inspiration behind any significant artwork, I would like to hear it.
This of course does not mean that artists shouldn't be compensated, my point is that payment is something that comes along with artist?s efforts as a measure of appreciation, but never as an initial incentive.
You may call me a copyright minimalist.
"our generation's collective IQ suffered from calculators,"
Sounds like opinion unsubstantiated by factual data.
Fact: your comment I'm replying to.
"Solving increasingly challenging captchas every day gives our IQs unprecedented boost!"
This too is highly doubtful, got any data in support of this conjecture?
Yes, my comment you replied.
Sorry, did not want to offend, just couldn't help. Peace.
I was disappointed: poetry is very weak and not witty at all, a naked idea, that's it. The idea of translating children verses to adult language is good though not new: if you can read in Russian, look for Igor Guberman.
Well, you don't know how to google, my friend: "go the fuck to sleep pdf", second page.
Indeed our generation's collective IQ suffered from calculators, but what about captchas? Solving increasingly challenging captchas every day gives our IQs unprecedented boost!
Reading Merriam-Webster:
1 : the act of punishing
2 a : suffering, pain, or loss that serves as retribution
b : a penalty inflicted on an offender through judicial procedure
3 : severe, rough, or disastrous treatment
In my opinion exposing minor vices in a puritan society well covered by #3. Disastrous treatment. Ruined carriers, families and friendships are not disasters. Are they?
What I can't accept is the public perception of vices (even if they are a very small ones by one's society standards) as evidence. And that's exactly what happens to my disgust.
One man's right to speak freely is very often another man's privacy violation. The balance is delicate, and each society sets its own.
Therefore I would pay much more attention to French hypocrites' opinions rather to American hypocrites' speculations on the matter.
I was not aware that Radiohead folks were starving.
Someone said that people are willing to pay for otherwise free content, if there is an additional value in it. For me starting a Netflix stream (even if I had to pay for each movie) is more convenient. And for me convenience is value, as saving time and hassle is.
I don't argue that enforcement does not work. In Singapore drug usage is extremely low because the penalty is death. The question is: who wants to live in a police state?
How do I know which movies are unavailable? I checked both my rental and instant watch queues and have not seen any signs next to titles. Maybe I never watch Sony movies?
