  I'm currently in the market for a new thermostat, and although i may not go with the Nest, I 100% definitely won't be going with the patent-trolling Honeywell.
  
  They just did themselves out of at least 1 customer, and probably lots more along the way.

  They don't just want control, they've quite openly said they're opposed to basic human rights and would prefer a system like China were if your "a dissident" you get to go to prison and have your organs removed (sans anaesthetic) without even the benefit of a trial.

  Simple answer

  All Applie has to do in ios6 is remove the ability for ALL apps to jump to safari.
  
  Admittedly this will kill the ipad/iphone etc as a general platform as searching for stuff would be a bitch, but its the easiest and simplest solution with only one downside:
