Even better if the pages are accidentally not numbered.
I keep going back to that iPhone ID password change. First, the FBI denied involvement. They then had to admit they instigated it. Meanwhile, Apple had offered to send trusted engineers to effect another iCloud backup in case there was more recent data on the phone. The FBI's password change thwarted that. Was it done with malice aforethought? Or the result of culpable incompetence? Either way, guys, you made the bed so you must sleep in it. You can't expect Apple to undo your Tracey Emin emulation.
Prevent "a single child seeing boobies"? I think that horse has long since fled the stable, especially if said child was breast-fed.
I do realise that lawyers' criteria for taking a case can be summed up as:
1. Can the litigant pay?
2. Fees
3. Fees
But ... in a previous case, Milorad Trkulja was in conflict with his lawyer, Stuart Gibson. If his current lawyer is the same Stuart Gibson, why did he again elect to represent Milorad Trkulja? (See 1, 2 and 3 above.)
Apple are apparently going to fight this, and so they should. The issue is far more important than whether the iPhone in question can or cannot be unlocked. This is the thin end of the wedge: the FBI/govt. trying to create a precedent.
What exactly does 'tribal' rights to Haka (war chant) signify? I thought the NZ Rugby team regularly performed a haka, and they are not exclusively maori. Do the non-maori members have to pay a licensing/royalty fee? And what about the range of commercial products featuring the word "Eskimo". Or do the Inuit and Yupik peoples just not care?
"Where a hacker gained full control over a Jeep Grand Cherokee (IIRC) while the reporter was "driving" it."
O/T? That was the fault of lazy coding and/or sloppy 'security' in the vehicle's software.
It has nothing to do with the issue: allowing third parties to effect repairs or mods to equipment that was purchased (not licensed). It may void the warranty, or even render the item useless. If so, that's my choice to make. I own it, I evaluate the risks.
Kudos to Germany. Dare I hope that equivalent bodies in other affected countries will issue similar statements? Indeed, the whole notion of ICS casts aspersions on the validity, independence and status of those nations' judiciaries. Why aren't they all getting publicly riled up? (Yes, it's probably political interference....)
Prize-worthy it may have been, but I clearly the horse shares many people's views of selfies....
In a way, I'm glad Ashkan Soltani was denied clearance and has resigned now. Because, sure as eggs are eggs, it wouldn't have been too far into that new job when he found his principles compromised.
Ah but... the police now say this whole furore was not about a spelling mistake. Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?
This would be funny, if it weren't so damned scary. I think the dog-trainer must've had a harder job 'training' Miranda to work with dogs than he had in training Boeli.
I keep thinking that the alphabet soup couldn't possibly plumb lower depths. And then this....
Why are the security bods so obsessively concerned with potential/imagined terrorist threats? It's not as though they're very good at picking up on actual terrorists. And there are many statistically more significant hazards both in the home and on the roads!
There is no question that child pornography is despicable.
However, this proposed law is equally despicable.
Google is useful. However, I do not want the results skewed towards what Google "thinks" I might want. Hence, my Google searches are anonymised via startpage.com. (Which, alas, does not preclude that the results I get are skewed by the body of anonymous searchers!)
An interesting name, don't you think? FearGod-Roth
Is Gangolf Jobb a native-born German? If so, can he trace his lineage back to the Goths, Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Vandals, etc.? If not, he himself is likely the offspring of immigrants at some point in time.
Do you think anyone is going to continue using internet banking, or buying on-line, if there's a back-door in the encryption? It's about time that banks, and on-line retailers, nailed their colours to the mast!
Perhaps the Russians haven't heard of Streisand?
