He doesn't want comments on his 'poem'? Gosh I wonder why, could it be becuase it's crap?
Hang on, "If only our tongues were made of glass, how much more careful we would be when we speak." Is that a bit from a poem or is it in fact the entire thing? If that is it, I would contend that it isn't a poem at all. It's just one of those BS strings of words you find on 'motivational' posters which try to sound profound but when you stop to think about them are nonsense.
And people wonder why I have always flat out refused to use 'The Cloud'. It sounds all so nice a fluffy and sweet but it's just storing your personal data on big corporate servers when it can be hacked, stolen or simply accessed by the likes of the US DOJ on a whim. To Hell with that. I'll take responsibility for running my own backups thanks.
Putting aside the general creepiness of the Clips camera (seriously, who buys these things?!) I can actually see a problem with there being no copyright on the photos it takes. If the owner of the camera has no ownership of the photos it produces then what comeback will they have when the inevitable hacking and publiction scandal hits? That's not to disagree with the main point of the acrticle, just that an automated camera for personal use might need to be treated like any other camera.
B! :-)
I like this idea. It obviously won't stop every idiot but forcing wouldbe commenters to actually read the article first is a great idea.
Another thing they ignore is that some streaming services provide content that cable/satellite operators don't. We dumped Sky some time ago and between everyone in the house now shell out for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Crunchyroll and Viki. The last two are entirely to feed my daughter's animé and South Korean drama fixations and provide content that no cable/satellite contract would, so you have to ignore those for a fair comparison. Even pretending that basic Sky costs £20 per month (it is to laugh!) we're saving £8.
IMDB lists a film called Fathers & Daughters (2015) but only credits four production companies Andrea Leone Films, Busted Shark Productions, Fear of God Films
and Voltage Pictures. There are 21 distributers. Who the heck are Fathers & Daughters Nevada, LLC? Do the other companies set up a temporary company just to run the finances of the movie through or something?
Another day another thing that makes me glad my daughter doesn't go to school.
Mark Beale has done far more to damage his reputation by bringing this action than a worldless one star review could ever manage. He comes across as petty and more than a little bit paranoid and unhinged, not attributes you'd want in a psychiatrist!
I just subscribed :-)
Anyway, yes there is definitely a problem when basically ANYONE can issue a takedown notice with no evidence at all.
Where's the person or group that's going to step in and put a stop to this racket? Start up a science journal that does NOT demand that authors hand over copyright so they can be published. Once there's one there will be more. It's not like the old days when journals had to be physically printed out and mailed to subscribers. Sure you still need to organise the peer reviews etc. but that's not all that taxing.
"Yvette Cooper, chair of Parliament’s home affairs committee, said the findings were “very disturbing”."
If it wasn't so utterly predictable I might be 'disturbed' by the painfully low standard of journalism and the rent-a-comment reaction of a self-serving, third rate politician.
"The letter was sent to The Upside Down, a Chicago pop-up bar themed on the popular Netflix series Stranger Things. Having opened in August with the initial intention of operating for six weeks, the venue planned to extend its lifespan until after the show’s second season premieres in October. However, it had not sought or received Netflix’s permission to use its protected branding."
The problem with a 16 year old actor is they're 16, with the incomplete brain development, hormonal upheaval, insecurity and general teenagerness that goes with it. Finding an actual 16 year old with the acting chops and mental stability required to carry a multi-million $ movie isn't going to be easy. There might be a few around, child actors who have managed not to have a meltdown at puberty, but not that many. The are a lot more early 20s just out of college who can, at a push, pass for 16.
But Netflix HAS multiple users under one account.
Works for me. I would rather Netflix spent money on other licenses and original content rather than crappy Disney shows and movies. As for ST:D (seriously, what were they thinking?!) it looks like it's going to suck anyway so CSB can keep it.
I pay for Netflix as it has enough content to be worth the small cost. Amazon Prime we have for the next day shipping so anything that's on their streaming service free is a bonus. Throw in the channels on in FreeSat and the various TV free catchup services like BBC iPlayer and we're covered. Anything that isn't on any of them we can live without.
Fest, like Con is purely descriptive, a commonly used contraction that's snappier and takes up less space on advertising material. If they'd called it "Pierogi Fezt" it would be like your "Shooz" example :-)
Compare this to the EU policy on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). The level of secrecy has been positively MENTAL! Go to Youtube and search on "Irish MEP Looks at TTIP but is not allowed to talk about it". That's their default position, this Brexit "transparency" is pure propaganda.
This comment was so funny I finally registered on the site so I could post my appreciation!
Got to say it's making for an entertaining read on Twitter, no doubt a LOT more entertaining than her books :-)
