Score one up for being not being aware or being lazy(I think 80/20 in frelled up hindsight.) and not looking in the first place. Very Nice Nina, very nice.

Side thought: Isn't this ideal for a case study here?

It has been said that Mike is a bit of a pessimist and disappointed seems to be a favorite word when it comes to big button issues so how about a bit of conclusion to the economics of free. It seems to me the discussion of theory and practice seems very thin with notable exceptions.

I think that view stems from not having more bad than good when it comes to stories about distribution, copyrights & of course the inevitable Whats In It For Me society. We may be idealist but an example and proof of success feels dam good. Pride is a virtue!

Did you mom ever teach you about shoulda coulda wouldas?

The question isn't where it could happen, but whether it needs to happen. Then you have an obvious axiom reply and not one based in the hypothetical and theory.

I think Mike covered this a few months ago as well. The need for a CopyLeft symbol.

Cudos Nina for this post and all the work you do.

Suggestion perhaps for a future post on the methods you use with the free distribution to get paid. Off the top of my head I wonder if its just advertising on that all important attention or contracting your services and all the other OR's that come with an attention business model.

It may be short but Rageing against the Machine wasn't about idly sitting and waiting for your piece through a voice. Its about action and awareness. If we find our click not clicking anymore we are aware of the issue and we can do something about it.

The simplest answer? It started 4000odd years ago. Being self aware.

Just an observation here Mike, but should have been selling needs to be changed to need to have been selling.

It really is not a moral argument.

Re: Re: Re: I'll say it!

Ye know a private company (that the free market demands) can handle this testing as well. Come to think of it its good business model too, if drug is not tested the people scorn you. Then its just a matter of which do you trust more; International body of health, your government, corporate entity or a local business.

Why do I feel old knowing the origin of calling a doctor a quack was from giving quick (quicksilver, aka mercury)

The world is a horrible place and there will and always be forces that want to kill you but the answer is not to ask some higher authority to resolve your issue. Look to the person next to you and you may just get somewhere.

    I'll say it!

I'll say it for you Mike. Abolish the FDA. Seriously what good has come of there meandering? What exactly purpose does a asthma medicine that increases the risk to asthma related death? What use is a Nasal med that causes anal leakage? The list goes on and on and on. But no, we accept a system by somebody higher because the people don't want to think about it. Let alone think for themselves. It's the same shit different day. Sacrifice a bit of liberty for, with emphasis, the illusion of safety.

    Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:

I marked this as insightful even though on hindsight it's full of holes and I will tell you why.

If they really wanted to protect there legacy model they needed to stop them from buying brick and mortar event seats to resell in the form of a tournament seat. And furthermore satellites for that seat. Now if you say is true and there attempting to protect a legacy business model then the logical conclusion they needed to do this back in the 90's.

Did they? NO. They adapted. 10,000 players laying 10k down for a shot at glory; enough said.

So how does this exactly put holes in your theory? Oh yeah, they adapted before and its Uncle Sam with that finger of his giving us a prophylactic while we are under anesthesia because I'm dam sure if anybody was awake to the issues there sure as hell is a fallout.

I'll say this again for those in the nose bleed section. Learn the trickle effect. Turn on the faucet of oppression and there's and obvious reaction. Drip the shit and people build a bigger/better bucket.

    Re:

Pretty fallacious logic there considering they actually let these sites buy seats for there major tournaments to earn a secondary profit from the tournaments to win them.
