    Easy solution

    That's easy. Just request that the judge put everything on hold (lawsuit, procedings, etc.) until DMN can fund and research going back in time to change the past. Once there, they can change the past so logs are kept for several years, whereby they teleport back to existing time to present the logs. Easy. Shouldn't take more than eight hundred years. Otherwise, they'll just have to tell the judge "Sorry, your S.O.L." Bummer.

    One hopes that his successor, Michael Daniel, will be similarly willing to push back against the rush of hype around "cybersecurity."

    That's doubtful. Slowly but surely they're getting rid of all the voices that oppose the White House's socialist agenda. No doubt the administration made things so hard on Howard Schmidt because of his stance and they intend to control Michael Daniel with a clentched fist. He'll fall to the regime that will eventually lead to the US becoming socialist and it's people so tightly controlled that nobody will have any privacy even in their own homes and minds, and every American will be forced to have a camera in every corner in their house and pointed at their beds to make sure they aren't terrorists. Every trip starts with the first step, and censorship/slavery is where it all starts.

    ... Is it a conspiracy theory if they really are out to do it??

    Two years? That's nothing.

    Two years is ok. But Neverwinter Nights I is a game by Bioware that was released in 2002. They allowed people to create their own mods, worlds, etc. and the game is still around today. It's still a lot more popular than Neverwinter Nights 2. NWN 1 had SecuRom as a DRM, but the developers removed it completely. There's no verification server anymore, but the game still plays without a hitch.

    People are still releasing mods, server worlds, and non-Bioware enthusiests are even releasing a patch for the game (Bioware didn't release the source code, so the patch seems to be viewed as worrying). Just another example of developers doing something right.

    Sounds familiar...

    Are judges going to start dressing up in blue and gold armor and walk around passing judgment on people they think broke the law? Are they going to break out an overpowered pistol with explosive rounds and blow up any computer servers they don't like? When someone says "Not guilty", are they going to spout off some lame comment about they knew the defendent was going to say that? Sounds like some bad movie...

    I guess it's no wonder the judicial branch has become the MPAA lackeys and servants. What more proof do you need that the two are in bed together? The movie industry is becoming the judicial branch, and the judicial branch is becoming the movie industry.

    This is how it all begins. The New World Order is beginning to take its place among the nations. The One World Government is starting with the powerful in America and is reaching out to rule all of the nations. Not one government anywhere can defend its people or its property. Soon, we shall all be slaves. America is coming to rule all of the nations. The biggest nations will fall first, and the smaller ones after.

    I thought that's what the whole GSA fiasco was for. Draw our attention away from the stricter IP laws and loss of our first amendment rights. Damn it. I guess the American people aren't fooled. The government better invade a small country suspected of terrorist ties then, otherwise there would be more protests.

    And protests against laws taking away American rights is downright un-American...

    Can't please the entertainment industry... ever.

    The entertainment industry constantly states that these cyberlockers simply don't go far enough to curb the 'piracy'. The lockers remove the ability to share, to search, etc. etc. and it still doesn't go far enough. You just can't please them.

    Handing over all root and administrator passwords isn't going far enough. Shutting down the lockers isn't going far enough. Shutting down the internet isn't going far enough. Taking a sledgehammer to the hard drives and blowing up the planet isn't going far enough. The entire universe imploding in on itself isn't going far enough.

    I think it is. Just like my carrying my mobile phone in my front pocket, 80% of my testicular cancer will be from my mobile phone since it has "perfectly safe" radio emissions (doesn't cause tumors apparently), so it sort of works out in the end. :-|

    There's apparently been a response from the entertainment industry. Not sure if it's real or not, but the quote is:

    "AAAAHHHHH HEEEELLLLL NO!!! OH THAT'S BULL***************! AAWWW HELLL NO WAY!!! NO FREAKIN' WAY!!! NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!! AW HELL NO!! CHINA IS TAKING THE COMMUNIST WAY OUT! WE NEED TO LEGISLATE CHINA! INVADE!!! INVADE!!! TAKE THEM OVER!!! IT'S LEGAL IN THE NAME OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY!!! PROTECT US!!! BOMB THEM!!"

    When asked if this was an official standing of the entire industry, the reply was most likely not. So it doesn't speak for the industry. But behind closed doors... *shrug*... who knows what they'll think.

    If these people are religious in any way, just quote the bible. More specifically, point to the story where Jesus multiplied the fish and bread so that everyone could eat... and then ask them where it says those fishermen and bakers were paid for those multiplied fish and loaves. I've looked and can't find it anywhere. So there must not be anything wrong with copying. It's not stealing, otherwise Jesus broke one the of the commandments. So copying isn't stealing... purely from a religious point of view.

    Hmm...

    I wonder how many times he'll be cited for littering... One for every record/balloon found in the forest/swamp areas? Other ones will fly all the way out to sea where the poor dolphins will find the balloons and inhale the helium to make their squeaks so loud it'll break glass.

    And what of the children walking to school and a balloon falls from the sky and they inhale the rubber and suffocate.

    For crying out loud, think of the children...

    I just got a call from a buddy of mine. He's being sued for being named Jack. It's his first name. And he's facing a $150,000 fine for every time he wrote his name 'Jack' on his assignments in school. While the $150k fine might be copyright infringement and not trademark (as this story is about), they're still borrowing it. Apparently the school has been contacted and all paperwork with the name "Jack" must be turned over so that the exact number of times his name was used can be counted. Also, his driver's license is an automatic million dollar lawsuit against the MVD for daring to print the name.

    I wonder if they'll also sue the guy who came up with "Jack Squat". Do you think they'll go looking for them? What if the guy really exists? Would they attempt to get money out of Jack Squat? Would it be possible? Since every company out there seems it can get blood from a stone (or money from nothing), they certainly have a chance to get something from Jack Squat, who apparently has nothing.

    And don't even get me started on Jack Schitt. That guy is in *real* trouble. His name is on at least half the internet, and since that's half the planet, they apparently feel they deserve half the world's currency.
