I was going to comment on this story but I deleted my verbose post. Instead, I can sum it up in one word ... RIDONKULOUS !

I agree with Rebel Freak on his point that the data can only track "accident reports" which based on what I have seen is probably a very very very small number. I think traffic cams are an idea that "sounds good" on paper but issuing tickets based on this is a really bad idea and I'm convinced it will actually make intersections more dangerous and drivers (myself included) suddenly stop to avoid a ticket, causing a rear end collision. I think a better use of these cameras would be to use them as a "review" tool in the case of an accident and assign fault using the camera data. However, I don't have any issue with cameras to detect speed on the highways. Maybe the technology is available to actually just apply the brakes for us automatically as we approach the intersection. Or adjust our speed for us automatically on the highway. Now that's some technology I can get behind, not this horrible solution.

I have noticed my own driving habits have changed significantly. Just yeasterday I jammed on the brakes when I could have probably easily made it through the intersection before it turned RED. I just don't want an expensive ticket in the mail so I will always slam on the brakes at intersections now. Yellow means sudden stops now, which will likely cause a rear-end collision but at least it's not my fault....

I've been using vista for about a year. I don't have any problems with it and I actually like it just as much if not more than XP.

    Obama can fix it

I'm sure Obama can fix it.

I think if you follow this logic all the way through.....follow me here.... then if someone had purchased a fake LV product(like a fake purse), the purchaser, following this logic, should then be allowed to sue the real LV manufacturer, because the manufacturer allowed the fake to exist on the planet earth.

That country has some "reality" issues.

Interesting article. I've wondered this myself. On one had it's pathetic and at the same time it's genious. But is it illegal? If the VP has to actually pay should he be the highest bidder, I wouldn't think it would be illegal. If on the other hand, they use this practice to run up the price and are found to "bail out of auctions" that they actually won, then I would think the full weight of the law would come down on them at some point, and would probably include some type of legal class action against them. That could be incredibly ugly...

In my opinion people would really like to see this near real time on the web, probably more so than on TV. And the tough part about making money is to find something that people want/need or make it convenient. I'm sure this is about the bottom line and TV ads must bring in the real $$$$ hence the good content will be on TV and the not soo good stuff will be online. Now if NBC could just figure out how to make money by putting this on the web, live.............hmmmmmmmmm........ And really if they can't figure out how to make money doing that.....then they are really lame.

a complete waste of time. They should focus on a real issue, like governmental fiscal responsibility. People will always be .... people. I'm sure every state has the word reckless written in somewhere to some driving law already. Do we really need to connect every single dot to enforce something we already have?

FLSA - Fair Labor Standards Act

The article is speaking to the Fair Labor Standards Act which is what governs how US companies have to pay employees (or at least meet the federal standards since it can vary by state). The definition of the law is better explained by lawyers, which I am not, but basically if you are a non-exempt (hourly) employee and working on your BlackBerry at home then it's technically considered work and thus should be paid and also count toward overtime. Of course your Company may have a policy dictating that you not do this....

Wow, where do you even start with the issues in this article. How about all credit reports remain locked until there is a verbal verification, rather than leaving it wide open for the identity theivez? Imagine not having a password on your bank website, or leaving your checking account on the front porch at night. That's basically how the credit reporting system works here... Ridiculous. The time, money and effort spent on credit theft is ridiculous.
