QR codes can contain a variety of information, not simply URLs. I use QR codes to let friends log onto my wifi at home or quickly grab my contact info.

I think we just need more creative marketers. The point that Anonymous Coward 1 makes is a good one. You need something to tell a person that they are supposed to look it up, a trigger. The QR code screams, "Here I am, use me to do something."

I also don't have to waste time shredding emails with personal information on them before I throw them away or recycle them. There is no way that the overall physical mail process is more secure than electronic delivery or account login statements. All of my statements, which they showed in that ad, are only available through a login into the respective website.

    Wireless Broadband

I think the industry is trending towards wireless data at true broadband speeds. It will be in the next decade or so that all of the copper in the ground becomes meaningless. That is why Comcast is an investor in Clearwire. Hopefully, this will mean choice of providers.

We can only hope that competition between wireless service providers is better than the monopolies granted to cable providers. I (naively) think it will be.
