When I looked into it, the non refundable 129$ wasn't optional.. I suppose that has changed now or will change? I couldn't even get a straight answer on that question from Google's store. It just seems to say "at launch" it is required, like they are implying this may change at some point but don't want to actually say so.
They seem to have an awful lot of limitations at launch and no clarification as to when these will improve
If FUD is an issue, tell Google to explain everything on their store page and clear it all up for us. There seem to be a lot of questions without straight answers from Google.
How much internet bandwidth does this thing burn through in an hour of play?
Can I use my existing controller for Player 2?
If not, will I be able to in the future?
Will there ever be cross platform play in general will this be case by case when specifically added by developers?
What happens to our purchases if you decide to shut Stadia down for some reason?
You forgot to mention the big up front investment to "buy" the hardware that is an expensive paperweight if the service doesn't do it for you
I would think the biggest killer is massive bandwidth requirements coupled with hard limits on responsiveness I've heard a lot about trying to overcome the problems with it but I haven't heard boo about what the benefits of streaming video games are as opposed to installing
Not my personal view..
I find the claim that online media use decreases support for right-wing populism in the U.S. kindof.. hard to buy myself I'd guess if you checked the math it's something more along the lines of a correlation than a cause-effect
No. From what I can tell from the summary in this post the article seems to be contending that people are NOT being radicalized through social media. The article seems to be claiming that not only is social media not "to blame" but it isn't much of a factor as it isn't really having much effect on whether people are radicalized or not so it's not even a tool that people are using for radicalization (like a gun is a tool used to kill people). Instead its just a tool to reveal how people are. "abjectly fake news “seems to have played a relatively small role in the overall scheme of things" "A recent study by academics in Canada, France, and the US indicates that online media use actually decreases support for right-wing populism in the US"
This particular article is more along the lines of
"mirrors don't cause acne"
than
"guns don't kill people"
It's not trying to say people are using social media to cause the problem, it's saying the problem is there regardless of social media
Which is exactly what happened. People chose and continue to choose. Thats how the current market leaders became and remain such. As soon as someone else does it better, Google adapts or becomes Yahoo or Lycose and Facebook adapts or becomes geocities or myspace.
Trump has no idea how the presidency works.. but it's becoming pretty obvious that the presidency is more like driving a car than a computer..
Pretending you know what you are doing when you have no clue is about as far from harmless as you can get. Sure he might not be able to get anything he wants in terms of policy changes, but he also can't handle anything that is actually important to handle like Iran, North Korea, Russia.. You don't handle Russia don't even bother worrying about who you want to vote for next time.
Biden may be bad but your chances of getting someone anywhere close to as damaging as trump are negligible. Biden isn't a crisis. Biden may be wrong and he may be ignorant, even on many issues, he could cause all sorts of problems, but that is nothing. He will rely on people who have a clue in many cases. Biden is not someone where you will need to eventually admit that it doesn't even matter if he is Putin's agent actively sabotaging at every chance he gets or doing it "accidentally". Worst case Biden might be completely under the thumb of corrupt corporate interests but at least those interests wouldn't be the downfall of the U.S.
You system information can easily be blocked or spoofed by the client so it will only be helpful to them in the short term (until people decide it is a problem) at best. The actual information that is helpful for formatting your result would be nowhere close to unique The advertising number isn't unique to your install, they let you reset it to a random number whenever you like, and that is assuming you opt in to using it in the first place.
It just means "the correct/best thing to do politically". It's about prioritizing appearance over substance. Bigots and racists just (mis)use it to make themselves feel better by painting any opposition "just being political" as opposed to acting out of true concern for others.
Copyright Maximalism Is Now Killing Pop Music
I'm so torn
Didn't you know it isn't politically correct to use the term politically correct anymore
If it's cost prohibitive to allow people to see the Muppet show and other beloved shows I certainly wouldn't blame music for it. Having music in shows is nice and creates no problem for releasing anything. If the horrible state of copyright law makes it cost prohibitive to release shows that have music in them it's victim blaming to point the finger at the music.
I think the fact that it doesn't go through walls worth crap will be more limiting than the distance issues.. the vast majority of cell usage happens indoors, and I read this as meaning buildings will need to install antennas to get access and so basically anywhere inside that doesn't have already have wifi today won't have 5g access tomorrow
To their credit they fixed all these issues very quickly after launch.
Fair enough. I don't know who knew they were going to create their own streaming service when. I still feel like they are playing victim to their own actions whether they decided to do the service and then signed up to a bunch of long term agreements or signed up to a bunch of long term agreements and then decided to do a streaming service.
Hey Nice! Apparently I'm behind the time since I cancelled my service.
I love how Disney acts like it's some force of nature that's out of their hands when actually what happened is they chose to sell the exclusive rights to stream these to someone else instead of putting it on their own service they knew was coming.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Like shooting your own horse before the race
Fair enough.. It looks like the launch limitations are basically "tv version" limitations and will remain for the TV version. The browser version makes a lot more sense to me although I'm still not the target market for sure. Yikes I didn't realize that all your purchases are only good while you keep paying them every month. It's a bit of a strange combination paying full price for a game that also requires a subscription to play. A hard sell for the premium titles I think assuming people know what they are paying for.
