You don't mass release the beta version of a new device, why should they need to open this beta version up to everyone??

    Re:

I totally disagree. I have my iGoogle homepage set up quite nicely, and I hang out there a lot to be honest. I have my Techdirt feed, slashdot in case anything interesting flows through there, ESPN, BBC, EFF, and Reuters Oddly enough for when I'm bored.

I don't have facebook anymore, to me, it became too much like a mall. Too many annoying schoolchildren making noise that doesn't add anything of value to anything. I'm not an old man, I just know that my time is too valuable to listen to garbage just for the sake of listening to garbage. To me, Facebook lost that "Cool hangout" vibe a long long time ago...

Ahhh, so it's useful for the government if they'd like to terrorize these people. I see, so you think it's a good thing that our government has become a terrorist organization....very interesting...

  • When You're About To Fly, Who Do You Fear More: Al Qaeda… Or The TSA?

    Re: Well since you asked..

I have never told you any such thing, nor would I, because it simply isn't true.

What is it they say though, "if you can't beat them (Terrorists), join them (TSA)" ??

Insulting is a synonym for derogatory. They share the same meaning.

  • Congress Happy To Knock Out Patents That Impact Financial Institutions… But Everyone Else?

    CommonSense ( profile ), 15 Jun, 2011 @ 01:12pm

    Already said, but...

"Instead of creating special carve outs in the patent system for big special interests with massive lobbying budgets, how about if Congress actually did its job and fixed a broken patent system to get rid of all bad patents?"

Because then who would pay for their re-elections?? Certainly not the citizens they don't help.

  • Dumb Arguments: AT&T – T-Mobile Merger Would Be Good For The Children

    CommonSense ( profile ), 15 Jun, 2011 @ 07:28am

    Re: Re: Re: Re:

Sprint might be sub-par, but their prices reflect that. I'd rather support them so they can get their network up to par than pay one of the giants just so they can re-work their billing structure and figure out ways to charge me more...

Re: Re: A lie from the core...

I like Texan accents... I don't even think the accent makes you sound stupid... What is it about the accent that makes you think it's why people feel the way they do??

My reasoning is thus: U.S. Education is sub-par in my opinion, and that's being nice. Education in Rural U.S. is SUB-sub-par, and a large portion of Texas is rural, is it not?

Couple that with the stories we hear about textbook decisions that make Texas look dumb, and I think I've got a pretty decent theory.

As a proud Houstonian, you're far from the dumbest TX has to offer, but please don't think I'm taking a shot at the citizens of your proud state as much as I am just the education system.

    A lie from the core...

No child learning in Texas is learning to the best of their abilities regardless of what technology is available to them.

  • Russia's 'Crime Of The Century' Highlights Importance Of Anonymous, Public Whistleblowing

    CommonSense ( profile ), 14 Jun, 2011 @ 09:00am

    Think again...

Sounds like your thought that no one believes the U.S. Government is as corrupt as Russia was an underestimation. Count me in that group as well, it may be a little bit different style of corruption, but it still stinks just as bad.

  • Los Angeles May Dump Red Light Cameras

    CommonSense ( profile ), 13 Jun, 2011 @ 09:50am

    Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:

I never said running red lights was the same as doing drugs, and the only similarity I brought up is an undeniable one, you'll never be able to completely stop people from doing both things.

As everyone has already said, speed limits and seat belts are also bullspit laws, and it's a big taxpayer money waste to try and enforce seatbelts (speed limits should be enforced, the way I've heard most police officers say they enforce them, only giving tickets that will stick in court, at 10-15 MPH over the limit). Some rules help, some don't. The ones that don't are useless, that's a fact.

  • ICE Declares 'Mission Accomplished' On Domain Seizures

    CommonSense ( profile ), 10 Jun, 2011 @ 11:45am

    Re: Re:

Wow... that's actually a scary thought, I hadn't really thought about that possibility.

Scarier still is that they may be doing this, as more and more people speak out about the failure of the "drug war" and wish to stop it... This country seems to have a real hard time learning lessons from the past.

  • Why Is The Federal Government Running Ads Secretly Created & Owned By NBC Universal?

    CommonSense ( profile ), 09 Jun, 2011 @ 11:19am

    Not the first time

And unfortunately probably not the last... I don't have citations, but I read somewhere back in the day that DuPont and some nylon companies had the gov't run propaganda videos against hemp and marijuana to have it made illegal... Nylon makers of course because hemp rope is the strongest and possibly longest lasting, and dupont because they made teflon, and were afraid hemp could be used to make a competing product, cheaper. They had to lump it in with Marijuana of course, because hemp by itself can't really do anything bad, but it's related, and marijuana is what had scared people (or the lies like "it made black men think they could talk to white women" that scared them anyway...)

  • Los Angeles May Dump Red Light Cameras

    CommonSense ( profile ), 09 Jun, 2011 @ 07:54am

    Re: Re: Re:

Sure, spend more money on "no evidence the cameras reduced accidents, deaths or injuries at the intersections where they were placed and in fact, found those numbers actually increased at some intersections."

Sounds like a good idea, I mean, the more money we throw into the drug war, the less people do drugs, right?
    /sarc

Some problems can just never be eradicated, and it's wise to identify them and not waste valuable resources on them. This is one of those times.

  • While Sony Sues Modders, Samsung Sends Them Devices To Mod Faster

    CommonSense ( profile ), 08 Jun, 2011 @ 01:49pm

    Damn!

I just bought a new LG TV to replace the Samsung that I had had for about 3.5 years. The samsung was failing, and I thought it was too soon for a new LCD TV to crap out, so I did some research and found that Samsung used some questionable capacitors or something around the time I bought it... That had ticked me off, hence the switch, but a move like this is the type of thing that makes me want to support them... maybe they'll be my next phone (one on Sprint though, I'm giving ATT and Verizon the finger)

    Re: Google = $$$ Grab

Except that if the U.S. Government steps in to swat this down, they won't be able to act all 'high and mighty' when the foreign country tries to swat down some unreasonable U.S. policy that the gov't wants enforced. It would look like the U.S. government only cares about policy when it's the U.S. government's policy to begin with............which may only mean finally showing true colors...
