Ted: Fred, do you have those results from the last experiment?
Fred: Why yes Ted! Go ahead and unencrypt that file over there, and print it out...
Printer: . . . *Prints out a Duck on Wheels*

It's been released that Ms. Love already signed a deal over to Activision for Cobain's likeness in a new GH. Most people will agree though that the following is true:
1. Activision is legally in the right, but their "full-out" use of Cobain is in very poor taste.
2. Ms. Love is using the backlash against Actvision to make herself relevant again. Even though it's her own fault this happened in the first place.
I personally agree with most people though that, it would of been nice to see Cobain in his own setting, as we remember him, instead of the parade and specital that GH is notorious for overdoing. The people in Harmonix got the idea down pat with their Rockband: The Beetles since it's a well known group doing what they are known to do.
I recently was robbed some months ago, and I feel for the family that not only have to go though this, but getting taunted as well... that's just cruel and coldblooded...
I was wondering why this wasn't posted on the record. :P I think xkcd hits the issue on the spot. It's not "misinformed" people, but regular people that will provide stupid tweets.
Still, at the end of it all, the same thing happened during 9/11 when the public at large did not enough information at to the situation. There where rumors and reports of other actions that day (invasion, bombings, gas attacks) from misinformed people, but the severity of the issue was not lost. In all, when a topic arriese, there will always be confusion and extra chatter until people calm down and start passing along relevent information.
This is such a poor move on Yahoo's part. Geocities might not be a cash cow, but it's still a relevant location on the Internet.
Everything on Geocities calls back to a simpler time, but yahoo never took the system any father then when it begain. They became so sold on selling full "site" packeges that they did not and fully use the advantage of geocities in connecting it to User's profiles. It could of been the alternative to Blogger, (as many would conclude that is what many original Geocities pages where used for), and made Yahoo worth something again.
As it is now though, even though people are saying that nothing of value was lost, the truth is that this is a very dick move by Yahoo to close their free service and only offer their lack-lustering paid services as an alternative.
Congrats Yahoo, you continue to portray yourself as a the clique mega-corp that's completely disconnected with reality. (Without the money or influence of a mega-corp).
Steam (the content delivery service by Valve) has become one of my favorite programs lately, which was a complete turn-around back when it was first released. Not only they have content that I look forward to, but their pricing and deals have made me consider and purchase games that I would usually hold off on.
I usually play Team Fortress 2 now, and one thing I loved about the Keynotes was the mention of TF2 Comics to be released by the same group that worked on the game. To quote from The Feed:
"Gabe brings up an excellent point that successful entertainment companies will realize that fans of properties like the property, not the specific product. They are Harry Potter fans, not just fans of the books. The team that's making the TF2 character videos (which are awesome!) are going to be working on comics."
That one time payment for a game can me hundred fold in returns from an excited and eager fanbase. Even someone that pirated the game (and enjoyed it) can be turned into a consumer.
Colin Mochrie?!
The same Colin Mochrie that acknowledges his internet exsistance and popularity due to amateur (for better or for worse) Amutations? You would think he would know about the value of fans over content much like rick astley. :/
This makes me happy. While it may not be anything "new", getting a name like Reznor can bring-in alot of the great ideas to make the great Indy games become even more well known.
It's not about the content, since there's alot of stuff out there that's waiting to shine. It's about making a plan that can finally get those gems the recongzation they deserve, (and funding as well if things go right.)
