I think most (if not all) of the credit cards I have offer credit monitoring of some sort, so the offer of more credit monitoring is worthless. I'm guessing a lot of people have this option available and have just never used it. I'm pretty sure I was eligible for other monitoring offers from the Home Depot and Lucent breaches as well, but yeah again, I already have it.
I think the only problem I've had with data breaches was the LinkedIn one, and only because one of those "I saw you watching porn, send me bitcoin" scammers sent me an email with the old password demanding said bitcoin. Nice try.
It's possible to deny certain inputs on HDMI ports. Sony included that because you might try to watch a not-so-legal copy of something from your computer.
It's actually the author's choice to wrap the game in Steam's DRM. Otherwise, Steam is either just a launcher or update platform, depending on what the author wants.
I have a few games purchased through Steam that you can basically just copy the game directory to another machine, and it runs just fine.
Giant Eagle stores (at least in some parts of PA) won't let you use the self checkout without one of their tracking cards. They, and CVS get really upset and p1ssy when you don't have/take one.
For the most part, DIVX discs purchased under the silver (I think) tier of always-playable were refunded, and a $100 payment was made on the players to pay for the DIVX functionality that was now dead.
If any of these players are still out there, they still play DVDs just fine. Probably - hard to tell with the way studios are jiggering the copy protection on them.
Probably the only reason Apple gets away with it is because they run house software on house-made machines.
The DoJ doesn't care because X doesn't run on every kiosk, ATM, terminal, and business computer in most of the known world. Google gets similar attention simply because of the amount of places that they are.
If Apple ever allows it's software to run on non-Apple hardware (which they won't) then you may see more scrutiny.
That being said, developing an XP Embedded system was the most fun I've had with software in a long time. Where else do I get to take home lots of micro-micro computers to play with???

The only way to stop fake news is to ban everyone and close the platform.

Re:
Marvel Oil also predates Marvel Comics and it's predecessor, Timely Publications/Atlas Comics, by a good 15 years.
Marvel Oil/Turtle Wax could have probably had this thrown out simply based on prior use of the name.
Re: Re: Makes me wonder when the XXAA's will get around to trying something similar, though.

Until someone comes up with something better, and the iPhone passes into history.
Remember when the RAZR was the king of the hill? Yeah. Most have forgotten that.
Re: Dear Old Media Company
There's a reason it was/still is called the "Columbus Disgrace"
Go figure. Stay classy, Dispatch Media. Stay Classy.
Re: Somebody at YPA is confused
I opted out too. Found a bag of them on my doorstep recently, and on a weekend I had to travel no less.
Thanks AT&T, do you mind NOT telling everyone that I'm not home?
Books *used* to have ads in them.
At least, some of those cheap "ALEENS VISITED TEH ERF!" books in the 70s had color ads for Columbia House in them, bound directly in the book.
Didn't seem to hurt sales of those any.
