Your first paragraph is so true, so correct, and such a good example of the best possible response to these politicians, that I can't believe it isn't being done. I would call for a referendum if I lived there.
"The NSA and their defenders at least have 'Because terrorism!' when they violate the Constitution or defend violating it(not saying it's a good excuse mind, it isn't, but they're at least pretending to save lives with their Constitution violating), to do the same 'Because underage drinking!' is such a massively disproportionate response that every single person in support of the law needs to be immediately removed from their position, as they are clearly unfit to hold it."
Why can't someone with a loud political voice, like Techdirt or Daily KOS, post the clip of Obama saying he supported Net Neutrality, and mentioning the HUGE opportunity to use his support for Net Neutrality as a fund-raising issue.
From this company (Velodyne).
Clearly they are failing because they don't have a clue what they're doing. Obviously they have no clue regarding the law. Given that they can't sell at the same price their customers can (used), they don't know retail either. It leaves you to conclude that they probably don't know their products very well either.
Why shouldn't they be free to say insensitive things. I have to agree with the captain, some fool is bound to blame someone other than the "victim" for being so stupid that she wouldn't look up from her iPad. We need to be responsible for our own stupid acts and not try to shift the blame to others and restrict the freedoms of others in order to protect the few fools who are too stupid to protect themselves.
Forget torturing the people who were ordered to do it. Torture the people who ordered them. That said, torture may be a necessary evil in some instances, and we shouldn't pretend otherwise.
BUT, if they were found guilty through improper (unlawful) search, then they are NOT guilty in the eyes of the law, just as if any other law was violated in the course of an investigation. Therefore, until their guilt is clarified, they should not be outed. Otherwise there is a chilling effect on anyone asserting their rights.
Forget airplane terminals. At least THEY'RE comfortable. Look at public transit terminals. Vaulting ceilings, with semi-enclosed walls and NO HEAT. These are designed for people? NO! They are designed to look pretty on paper. If they were designed for people, they would have lower ceilings, they would be fully-enclosed, and you would be able to sit down and watch the busses and trains coming in.
Bar none.
We'll never know if Obama could have been a good president (He's only fair in my estimation, which has gone downhill since the NSA stuff) But again, we'll never know because from the start the racist republicans were intent on nothing else except blocking his every move.
Clinton was allowed to be great, and he was. Oh Yeah! He got a blow-j*b. Big F'ing deal.
That's the point. Ordinary, everyday, (otherwise)decent people doing evil at the bidding of their "superiors." Read Milgram's study in obedience someday. While imperfect, they show what decent people can do when given orders by someone they believe is in authority.

If the suits weren't rigged, then Yeah. Knowing how governments and global banks work together, not so much.
Considering Bush Jr. set this up, and his father, Bush Sr. was Director of Central Intelligence...
Therefore the breeding stock of politicians, I can assure you that they are ALMOST uniformly brain-dead when it comes to technology. In fact, and in many ways, an anti-technology bias is "hard-wired" into the legal system. Rules of jurisprudence mandate against email as a delivery system - even if it were securely encrypted.
In the words of Captain Picard, "Make it so!!!"
Require ALL software to be licensed and developers as well. Problem solved. Make programming without a license a felony - because ... it might damage systems and kill people.
By failing to respond to the PERCEIVED THREAT in a timely fashion, they endangered the children who might have been harmed had the threat been real. Since they failed to protect the children, they should be sued for negligence. (Think of the children...)
I don't understand how Gibbs behavior can be said to not work. How much does being benchslapped cost him versus how much he's making? Likewise with the "No, you're being unprofessional" defense. What has he lost really?
Most of the FBI are lawyers too.
Gotta love, "We've poisoned the Earth!" people.
The earth is just fine, and will be just fine. Humanity is NOT as powerful as you think. A single mega-volcano would probably do more damage in a week than humanity has done in its history. Get over it.
