Have you considered having a link somewhere on techdirt of past presentations? or maybe at least, the last one given? Don't know if that would spoil the talk, but might give non-techdirt visitors who follow the links a bit more on what you'll say.
From what is written above, it sounds like she was "identifying a police officer with intent to harass."
If our free speech protections don't cover screaming fire in a crowded theatre I don't see how they apply in posting police officers home addresses with the intent to harass. As long as they prove in court that her intent was to harass and not just inform.
What most likely happened is, large numbers of AT&T customers are compromised, and were unknowingly used as zombies to attack 4chan.
This to someone obviously incompetent at AT&T looked like 4chan attacking AT&T. So instead of blocking the customers or providing them with information on how to uninflect their computers, the problem still exists.
"Yet for all of Hollywood's famous elan for whipping up interest in its movies through hype and hoo-hah, the studios paradoxically have always exhibited a peculiar loathing of real consumer demand. Can anyone imagine GM or Ford telling Avis to stop buying their cars and renting them because too many people are renting them? "
Thats a great analogy, sorry, this car has been rented 3 times this month and thus we are out of cars.
Alot of posts here have talked about SL as a game, while individuals have created games inside of it, it has no end point and no way to win.
I highly suggest you try it out and give it an hour :)

You've been had, these are not the voices in the game for Thor but someone dubbed over it.
Misleading
Love your stuff, but this article title is just misleading.
First it includes obviously things we don't measure in GB (newspapers? seriously?)
Second, "Keep in mind, that number is for an average American, not tech-savvy folks."
Average American Consume is just not that tech savvy.

I think Mike is referring to the original charge which landed him in prison?
Re: Facts?
or try to sue everyone you can, and hope most pay up and settle.
Unlikely 4chan was "attacking" AT&T

Re: Re: Obviiate the suggestion/motivation test
nice to actually see authors defending what they write, instead of the bs in mainstream news where nothing is challenged.
