    just hating on acrobat DC...

...use PDFs ALL the time in our work, and it took me practically no time at all to hate on acrobat dc s/w... (PC) previous version was 'ok', but this version (forget number, i think within a version of the latest) sucks: two-three clicks to do what was once a one-click operation; crappy measuring process; when you smoosh the plus button to zoom in, after 2-3 clicks, the little button bar jumps around, so you have to re-coordinate your mouse to where it moves up a quarter inch or so; etc, etc, etc...
seems like everything that was directly accessible is now 2-3 more mouse clicks away for no good reason other than they revamped the whole interface for no good reason other than some middle manager justifying their existence...
in fact, stopped using it at home when working from there, and use a $20-25 alternative which works better for me...
really getting tired of adobe, historically been high-handed, ignoring users and getting worse...

what a tangled web we weave...

...when we practice to deceive !
one of the major problems we find ourself in, is that it is all tied up in one gloriously, huge, tangled skein of Empire... you cant tug on one string without all the interlocking strings pulling back: you cant address mainstream media failures without addressing the failings of capitalist imperialism...
you cant address systemic election fraud without preventing money-type 'speech' from overwhelming mere human speech, etc, ad infinitum...
in other words, unless/until Empire falls, there is no way to effectively isolate one problrm to fix it, all roads lead back to the oppression by Empire...

it is not: My Infallible Side/Brand vs Your Incorrect Side/Brand; it is: Bottom vs Top, 99% vs 1%, krony kapitalism vs free markets, Empire vs rule of law, freedom vs oppression...
    those are the 'sides'...

  • Adidas Can't Trademark 'Adizero' Because A Small Chicago Church Sold Two 'Add A Zero' Hats To Someone In Wisconsin

    art guerrilla ( profile ), 24 Nov, 2016 @ 05:59am

    Re: Poor Adidas

    1. think tech dirt made it clear they were standing on principle/law, whether the beneficiary is Big Co, or little guy...
      2. actually did 5 mins of googling and found out several factoids: as poster downstream proposed, it was about increasing 'tithing' to their cult, er, church by adding a zero to the mark's, er, parishioner's donation...
      3. they were -at least of article i saw- offered 5000 to 'settle' by adidas and they wanted -you guessed it- to AT LEAST add a zero...
      4. from the statements of cult, er, church members, appears to be a legal extortion racket, plain and simple...
      5. apparently, it is adidas 'thing' to use the 'adi' prefix for marketing BS/fluff: adiColor, adiZero, etc... the 'zero' thing is supposed to refer to a lightweight line of shoes, etc...
      6. searching 'adizero' came up with a zillion pages of adiCrap from adidas... searching 'add a zero' came up with a zillion pages of programming/spreadsheet tips, with one on a church newspaper story about this, and one with a link to techdirt's story...
lastly: frankly, i simply refuse to recognize there is ANY basis for the so-called traducement* AT ALL, "adiZero" and "add a zero" are -to me- in no way, shape, or form confusing to differentiate...
i don't care if it is cola or clothing, or in the same geographical market, simply not the same thing...
simply saying something that kinda/sorta sounds like something else is some kind of actionable traducement ? ? ?
      no, that is idiocracy-level shit...
(*phuck ewe two, spel czech, traducement is a word...)

i give techdirtia high marks for its comment policy, and overall inclusiveness and evenhandedness for even extreme positions such as yours truly is prone to pronouncing...
this is how a democracy should look and feel: no holds barred, rollicking, roiling, bursting with energy; and yet also revolving around a general consensus which produces a type of group-wisdom... (sometimes)
in any event, even the non-starters are welcome, the walts and such of the world provide a handy and useful foil to demonstrate the faults in their argumentation, and educate the like-thinking/non-thinking cohort to how their position is in furtherance of Empire, while the better option is to further freedom...

    Re: The "C" Word

i will swim against the tide on this one, as i find far too often that FAR too many people aver that ONLY gummint entities are capable of censorship, but i totally disagree with that...
state censorship may be one of the most egregious forms, and may have legal protections (at least theoretically), but private, 'legal' censorship is still censorship...
in fact, i will maintain that the censorship-lite practiced here with flagging posts which are superficially hidden IS a form of censorship, albeit crowd-sourced and about as mild as censorship can get... regardless of whether it is done by popular acclaimation, it is still a form of censorship...
(AND about the only form of censorship i dont get too upset about since the content is still available...)
worst and most insidious of all, is the self-censorship we all engage in for this hysterical, uber-PC era...
EXACTLY WHY i go 'overboard' in many of my posts: i am both staking a claim to say whatever fucked up shit i want to say, which gives YOU ALL the space to voice your not-so-fucked-up shit... further, this crazy person from crazytown advocating for -say- stringing up ALL the politicians, gives room for less extreme people to carve out a reasonable landing spot... otherwise, WHAT incentive is there for politicians to have a change of heart ? ? ?
no, you milquetoasts need a crazy person to provide the impetus your ineffectual voting and sternly worded letters to the editor wiil NEVER accomplish...
    you're welcome...

    the overarching point...

...that is most telling, is the retroactive approval/legalization of the previously illegal/unthinkable...
as the author rightly points out, what else does this tell the spooks, other than they can do whatever the fuck they want, and the legislators will protect THEM, not US, their real (not) constituency...
upshot is, NO constitutional protection (on this side of the pond), and spooks run amuck with no effective oversight...

  • Florida Voters Vote Down Bill Aimed At Hamstringing Solar Competition

    art guerrilla ( profile ), 16 Nov, 2016 @ 08:54am

    Re: Floridian....

well, cant disagree that a constitutional amendment is overkill on what should be legislative solutions, BUT,
    1. the legislators will NOT address these issues of importance to us 99%, ONLY the 1% donor klass get their wishlist fulfilled,
    2. they make 'normal' law amendments all but impossible to bring as referenda, so we citizens (AND korporate shills) are essentially forced to use the constitutional amendment route...
    3. i think the 60% to pass makes a high bar to eliminate most of the frivilous proposals...
unless/until 'our' (sic) representatives start representing us 99% instead of the 1% donor klass, we have little choice...
