    Re: Re: Re: Re:

here is what i have a problem with, on what MORAL principle are they basing the 'tax', which appears more like extortion or 'protection' money, rather than based on the idea they are using state infrastructure that they want to be renumerated for ? ? ?
(cause everyone knows how quickly the tubes get worn out with all those gigabytes of data abrading the wires such that they have to be replaced so often /s)

    Re:

know nothing about these ladies, obviously, nor much about how movies are pirated by directly recording them...
BUT, seems like there *could* be any number of scenarios where you got to a movie late, camera was out of juice, SD card got munged, whatever, where you had to record just the first half or some portion of a movie to have a complete version...
    just sayin'...
but even so, just more 'criminalization of living' (especially when a darker shade of pink...)

if the major casting bigwigs/companies did NOT have their own private database which had *all* kinds of shit beyond the 'talent's' stupid ages, i would be stupefied...
(given that it is 'hollywood' we are talking about, i am prepared for stupefication...)

    off topic like a mofo...

but just ran across this article in the sciam website (http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-the-fda-manipulates-the-media/) which was talking about a media phenomenon that i had no idea existed: so-called, 'embargoes', and -particularly- 'close-hold' embargoes...
it is almost a 'secret executive signing statement' for various gummint agencies (in this case, the FDA) to manipulate the media coverage (propagandize, if you will) such that it is 100% favorable...
in this case, utilizing a 'technique' that i wonder is even legal -if legally binding- yet is apparently being adopted by more agencies, korporations, and large institutions...
in short, they get virtually ALL the major media players in whatever segment are covering that agency's issues, announcements, and pronouncements, and have them sign what amounts do a 'non-disclosure' agreement: the mediawhores (all one word, stupid spel czech, hhh) get an exclusive briefing ahead of the hoi polloi, etc; with only two minor, hardly-worth-mentioning concessions:
    1. the media collectively don't release until a certain date as specified by the FDA/whoever;
    2. they do NOT consult any other people other than the FDA's own people, NOR quote any other experts, etc in the article based on this 'insider info'...
    minor stuff...
    hardly worth mentioning...
    only leaked by accident...
now is a molehill which won't become the media mountain it should, for the simple reason that the media won't report on their systemic failures most of all...
and back to chewing the soma cud in,
    three,
    two,
    one...

too bad there is no device to catch the super-predators on wall street...
oh wait, there is, the SEC and (In)Justice Dept, only those machines are old and broken; nobody who is anybody wants to repair them so they function...

its called the stasi in old east germany; i think we call it 'community policing', here...
i'm having difficulty seeing where we 'won' the war against fascism, seems like fascism 'won' from all available evidence...

    Re:

nunh-unh, 'cause you have a right to a 'fair and speedy trial', NOT the pre-trial, which is where all the action is...
you do know that the way the laws have been both written and re-interpreted, the prosecuting attorneys have ALL the power to fuck you up, BEFORE the trial...
you get hemmed in with charges and seizure of assets, etc, such that THE ONLY practical way out is to 'plead guilty' EVEN IF IT IS SOMETHING YOU METAPHYSICALLY DID NOT DO...
such is both the power and abuse of their office...

    a late-breaking update...

...Judge Beryl Howell was found dead today, in a place the judge was never known to frequent, their vehicle was still running, but the keys were thrown down the hill; investigators say the judge was apparently the victim of a robbery, though no articles or money were stolen. authorities said there was nothing at all suspicious about it, and, um, nobody needs to look into it or anything.
turning to the weather, Ginny, are we wearing galoshes or sandals tomorrow ? yuk-yuk-yuk...

    somewhat off-topic-ish...

live in central florida, rural area, and had a first for me and those i talked to locally: at 3:45 am, got a call from county sheriff that there was an ongoing investigation (or something, don't remember the exact wording), and advised that all residents receiving that call should stay inside until further notification by another call, blah blah blah...

started out with the *gronk*gronk* sound you get with amber alerts, the phone didn't ring; wife and i made sure of where the dogs were, locked a couple doors, and went back to sleep... we *assumed* the activity was pretty damn local -like within a half mile- if we were getting the message...
nope, as it turns out after i talk to neighbors a couple miles away, their neighborhood got the calls, too... (different time stamps, by the way, earliest i could tell was 3:30 AM)
thing was, we never got an 'all clear' call back... (i am guessing they got a fair ration of shit for the 'don't go outside, citizen' calls, and decided not to whack the hornet's nest again...)
one neighbor says he told them not to bother calling, he can take care of himself... hmmm, he's got one foot in the grave, and the other on a banana peel... hmmmm...
i called about 6:30 am, and they said, 'um, uh, yeah, we, um, forgot to call back...', but we're all done...' wtf ?

hmmmm, felt more big brother-ish than public servant-ish...

oh, when all was said and done, searching for some guy they found 15 miles NW of us... wtf ? ? ? HOW MANY people within a 15 mile radius (plus?) did they roust ? ? ?
that encompasses a couple small towns and a number of large-ish subdivisions...

    Re:

um, something not justifying something, or something i remember from aeons ago...
the basic conundrum: good can not use eee-vil methods to attain good ends; eee-vil can use eee-vil methods to attain eee-vil ends...
i would also remind various pearl-clutching kampers, freedom means people are free to make stupid, or tasteless, or ill-advised words and actions, otherwise they arent really free, are they ? ? ?

    how sad and maddening...

...that kafka's 'The Trial' becomes a how-to-guide for Empire's behavior...

Re: Ad Hominem, AD HOMINEM, AD FUCKING HOMINEM!

    THANK YOU !
the first point you made is extremely important, in that The They often use flawed or troubled individuals (NOT saying so in snowdens case, just the opposite, which IS a problem for The They) to do the on-the-ground dirty work, such that if they did get found out or decide to go public, they can be easily discredited and dismissed by Empire...
    you know, a lone nut...

evidence proffered for the above statement ? ? ?

    used to respect boise state...

...they are a small school who has had a consistently good football team, even playing much bigger schools and winning more often than not...
    HOWEVER, i have ALWAYS thought:
    A. their field is FUGLY, per-i-odd...
    B. they have a tendency to wear all blue uniforms while playing there, and -to my mind- it provides a small advantage in that the all-blue players get 'lost' against the all-blue background... i think of it as crappy gamesmanship at the least, and cheating at the worst...
(i think the same thing of tennis players: saw some players at US Open wearing optic green outfits; excuse me? isn't the ball optic green ? and you allow them to wear optic-green outfits where the ball might get 'lost' such that the opponent can't follow the flight easily ? ? ? no, that is wrong, too... i doubt they would allow an outfit which had a realistic images of tennis balls all over, shouldn't allow outfits the same colors as the balls, either... realizing that tennis outfits were traditionally white, and the balls were white back then, too...)

got back from seeing 'snowden' and chat afterwards w lead cast, stone and snowden... pretty cool, only a couple minor glitches on hookup (thought the enn ess ehh was better than that; *know* they are as eee-vil as that)...
that guy ! that guy !
what a great citizen, what a great guy...
not only is my 'protest vote' of snowden/manning one of my proudest votes (did it in 2012, too), it is actually one of the BEST votes if i want to elect moral humans who are great patriots and love their country and fellow citizens...
sure, ALL politicians make that claim; they ain't risked SHIT for it: THESE HEROES (manning, snowden, drake, binney, sterling, kiriakou, etc)risked EVERYTHING for OUR country, OUR rights, OUR duty to maintain a nation of laws, not of a few self-selected people...
yeah, ANY ONE of those people, by virtue of standing up for the precept of an informed citizenry as a prerequisite for a functioning small-dee democracy, would be qualified to lead our nation...
the candidates of the two faces of the one Korporate Money Party ?
    disgust...
disgust is the only reaction i can have to these 'choices'...
it is disgusting, we must demand better...

its lying scumsuckers all the way down...

to top it off, they claim the DESTRUCTION OF EVIDENCE, as far as the interrogation tapes was no big deal, 'cause they had notes on it and shit...
gee, you and i can get away w shit like that, right ???
    right ???
scumbag traitor who destroyed the tapes 'on his own inititive' got fired, right ???
    right ???
we live in a nation ruled by laws, not psychopaths, right ???
    right ? ? ?
