The problem with this is, WHY ARE YOU STILL USING XP? If your argument is underpowered PC, get a Linux distro. Otherwise, if you need Windows, and have a capable PC (which is not hard, unless your PC is like 2 decades old), upgrade to Windows 7. By now, XP is already far behind the technological curve.
Your other arguments are sound, but a decade is a really long lifetime for an OS.
Are you talking about the current eBook bundle? I don't really see it being as financially successful as the other ones, because, it's a ebook bundle. And you can't expect everyone that bought the game bundles to get the book bundle too. Actually, I would say that at $940k at the time of posting, it's already passed the "profitable" level.
...now that I see it, Xkcd Volume 0 is nice. But kinda failing to see the value in getting an electronic copy of an eBook. But then again, some of the strips are just too large for physical print books. And I don't know if it's the same for the book, but the title-texts have too small of a font in the demo.
(not saying I'm against for-sale copies of webcomics, just that physical prints hold much more value for them)
I would hope the format is meant to work on the PC from the get-go, so I can just pop in the card and play it on my PC- even better if I can play it on VLC/MPC. Of course, others would need a Lib-Ray player, for pop-and-play viewing.
I would really like to see it take off, it has the chance to be the GoG of movies.
And 253: Techdirt's SOPA article- FUCKING AGAIN!
#255: An anime discussion forum (at least, I don't see it as being very useful).
The last two lines are gold:
"I have a good faith belief that use of the copyrighted materials described in all notifications submitted through the Program as allegedly infringing is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law."
"The information in all notifications submitted through the Program will be accurate, and I swear, under penalty of perjury, that with respect to those notifications, I am the copyright owner or am authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed."
And no wonder, one of the links is an article about the Costa Concordia disaster:

Techdirt has not posted any stories submitted by arahman81.
Looks like someone's taking leaves out of the Canadian telco's books.

Actually, I prefer Bandcamp more than Amazon. DRM-free MP3, FLAC, Ogg, AAC, plus no "unavailable outside of US" BS.

I Would like them to try Twillight Zone
They are going to get back-slapped hard, and might just lose some control.
