Oracle isn't suing people making java programs, it's suing people who created a non-compatible version of their proprietary language, with the express purpose of avoiding paying a royalty.
Just goes to show once again that focusing on the search engines is a waste of time. If someone is infringing, go after them. As long as the content is still available, it will find it's way into search engines.
There is another pretty interesting document about domain blocking in the wikileaks trove. While it is challenging to explain how the internet works in simple terms, they still often just get it flat-out wrong.

Add to that the OTA broadcast (I get over 100 channels, out of which I watch about 5) and the cost equation changes radically.
David Tran is a very savvy guy and an interesting person. If you go take a tour of the factory there's a great chance you'll actually meet him. But if you don't know upfront what he looks like you won't know it, because he doesn't make a big deal out of who he is, he just likes to keep his finger on the pulse.
That's only true if you have zero internet attack surfaces, otherwise your software is your weak point and there is no human behavior that can affect that. Take a look at the frequent use of SQL Injection as an example.
Agree that you need to factor in the people as a huge attack surface, but if you fix all the behavior and still have swiss cheese software, then you've done nothing. Most of the highly visible breaches are preventable.
Sure the cybersecurity problem is huge, but information sharing is unlikely to do anything at all to address that. What's needed is for people creating software to actually care about security. They need to harden applications and adhere to best practices.
How about making companies liable when they refuse to encrypt and a hack occurs, or identity theft, or stolen credentials, etc.
