AT&T And BellSouth Thinking About Merger

from the the-child-comes-home dept

One thing is clear. If you’re in the mergers and acquisitions business with a focus on the telecom industry you will never get bored. The latest deal supposedly in the works is a merger of equals between AT&T and BellSouth. BellSouth, of course, is a “baby bell” that was spun off from AT&T oh so many years ago (it’s tough to call the baby bells “babies” any more). Both companies are looking at the merger as a way to compete with larger SBC and Verizon. Of course, there are a ton of regulatory issues that would have to be dealt with, but those things usually have a way of working themselves out.
