BT Hybrid Data MNVO

BT plans on bundling GPRS access with its BT OpenZone Wi-Fi service. They haven’t announced pricing or a launch date, just that they will be using mm02’s GPRS network. This is an interesting hybrid MVNO strategy. BT is positioning itself as a leader in the mobile data space. They are concentrating on the low-cost Wi-Fi rollout and leveraging mm02’s existing GPRS network. Hopefull the execution will live up to the concept and provide seamless network hand-offs and billing. Hopefully T-Mobile USA will offer something similar given their 1200 hotspots and national GPRS network.
