What the RIAA Has to Say About MP3.com and Napster

from the we're-just-doing-our-job dept

Salon is running an interview with Hilary Rosen, the CEO of the Recording Industry Association of America – the folks who brought the lawsuits against MP3.com and Napster. It’s definitely worth reading what she has to say. What it comes down to is a “well, we’re just doing our job, protecting musicians’ rights” type of comment. She doesn’t have any positive suggestions. I think that’s the problem. If the RIAA was willing to work with others to really understand the potential, then maybe a reasonable solution could be worked out. But, if they’re only there to react, it’s going to continue to be a mess.
