Success! One Billion Users Will Go Into Production (Late Backers Welcome)

At some point, I’ll have time to write more thoroughly about how the wonderful and supportive Bluesky community effectively willed One Billion Users over the funding threshold, but it’s quite amazing. We were around 50% of the funding threshold just a few days before the campaign was set to close (which generally means the campaign won’t reach its goal), but then a bunch of users on Bluesky really embraced the project, urging others to support it, and it quickly became a community celebration.
Around 2pm on Thursday, with just 10 hours to spare, we passed the $50k funding threshold and have since gone on to raise another $10k in support beyond that.
We had always set the bar exceptionally high for a card game, knowing that we didn’t want to go into production unless there really was significant demand for the game. Unlike many projects, we really do believe that Kickstarter is valuable not just as a crowdfunding tool, but as market research. It’s a tool to tell you whether or not there’s a big enough market to make the product you want, which is tremendously useful rather than discovering the market isn’t there after you’ve manufactured a product.
For a little while, it appeared that maybe our game might have been more of a “lessons learned” situation, but the final rush and the amazing, vocal support from so many on Bluesky was really heartening and inspiring (and a reminder of the good and fun side of social media that often feels lacking these days).
If you backed the campaign, we sent an update earlier today with details. If you didn’t back the campaign and are now regretting it, we’re testing out a new feature on Kickstarter that lets you make “late pledges” after the official campaign ends. We’ll keep that open for a little while longer to catch any procrastinators and stragglers, before shutting it down when it’s time to finalize our production order.

You botted your backers. 1200 (a 1000% jump) in the last 24 hours. I didn’t even know that was a thing, but the fingerprint is clear as day, similar to how it is on Twitter, or youtube.

We did not delete your comment. It was on a different post, and we already responded to you explaining how you were wrong.
We did not get a 1000% jump in the last 24 hours. We gained less than 100% new users. You are simply too stupid to understand how many backers we had when. We did not “bot” anything, nor would it ever make sense to do so on Kickstarter. That would have required spending tens of thousands of dollars… to then lose even more money by having to produce way too many copies of the game… and then having to sit on inventory.
I mean, it’s astounding how stupid you appear to be.

This is false. We had 829 backers on Wednesday, the day before the campaign closed. We had 694 on Tuesday. We had a big rush at the end and gained about 600 new backers.
Your claim of having 130 the day before is simply, factually wrong.

We did get a big burst on that final day, which (as explained to you already multiple times, and was mentioned in this post) was because a ton of people on Bluesky came out to support the project and encouraged others to do so as well.
It’s a story of success on social media, Matt.
Again, it would make NO SENSE at all to fake this. We’re only doing one print run. It doesn’t make economic sense for us to do a print run if we make less than $50k (hence why we chose that number). So, under your system, we would have had to spend approximately $20k (what we were down towards the end) in order to get us to that level, and then we’d have way fewer actual backers, meaning that we’d have a smaller order, which isn’t worth doing, because this game only makes sense to print at scale.
So it is incredibly economically illiterate to claim we faked it. We’d have spent $20k to lose even more money.

I didn’t want Biden, but he was better than Trump. Even if the conspiracy were true and Biden is just drooling in a corner while others make decisions, they’ve made better decisions than Trump and his cronies ever did.
