NextWave Gambles On Las Vegas.. With Someone Else's Spectrum
Follow the spectrum musical chairs. NextWave is continuing their efforts to turn themselves into a viable business after years of back and forth in determining whether or not they actually had the rights to the spectrum they bought (despite not having the actual money to pay for it). Now that they definitely do have the spectrum, they’ve sold some off to Cingular and are now asking the bankruptcy judge if they can start testing a broadband wireless solution in Las Vegas – but with someone else’s spectrum. That’s right, they’re looking to use IP Wireless’s spectrum, because part of the spectrum they sold to Cingular was the Las Vegas spectrum.
